I use it longer if it seems fine, no issues so far. Do you get the refrigerated kind? They make smaller, 32 oz shelf stable boxes and even little individual boxes that might be helpful.

I buy the unsweetened almond milk and coconut milk to use on cereal and in my morning 'sludgies'. I used one of them to make a homemade pudding for the little girls next door and that turned out yummy! Either are great for a hot cup of cocoa, too.

Hubs drinks Califa brand Almond Coconut milk. I drink Vanilla Coconut milk, usually the So Delicious brand but sometimes the Silk brand. I always use coconut milk in smoothies that have milk in the recipe, as well as coconut milk yogurt and coconut milk ice cream for smoothies (as well as just for eating).

We have had both almond milk and coconut milk open longer than seven days without any issues.

I use Almond Breeze as well, and I can only get it in 1/2 gallon size, but I never have a problem using it up. Love the taste!

I like the Diamond (Almond Breeze) brand a lot better than Silk, which has gone all out into the almond milk business. My local Walmart, where I buy most of my groceries, has cut way down on their soymilk inventory and is pushing almond milk. I wonder how this relatively new popularity is going to affect the water shortage in California. Almond trees are notorious water hogs.

I still prefer soymilk, but use both. To answer the original question, I never noticed that warning on the container, and mine always lasts longer than 7 days. I think we're both fine. :-)

alisade was wondering the same thing. we used to drive up with my dad, to the plant/fields when he'd inspect their elevators....always would come home with a bag of them, lol...

btw did you see on the news how they cut back the orange trees they still have, then painted the trunks with white latex paint to protect them from "sun burn"??

We have been using original Silk Almond Milk for a couple years. About a month ago Silk Cashew Milk appeared in our store. Have switched to the Cashew and like it a little more. It is a creamier consistency.

I looked in Walmart today for the smaller shelf type almond milk but they didn't have any "sweetened" How is the vanilla without the sweetness?

Hi, Susan....painting the trunks on citrus trees has been done for generations! It's an extremely helpful (and inexpensive) way to protect the tree from sun scald damage and cracking.

JoAnn, I'd rate the unsweetened vanilla as "just okay." There's a container of it in my fridge right now--I bought it by mistake, not realizing it was vanilla. But the vanilla flavor is rather subtle, as it turned out. I find it has a very slight bitter aftertaste I haven't experienced in the regular version (non-vanilla).

I guess it depends on how you plan to use it. I use mine only for oatmeal. Soy milk goes in my tea, and I don't drink either of them by the glass. I detected the aftertaste only when I sipped it in preparation for this review. :-)
