How to find Facebook Local Sales page?
Comments (17)It seems like you need to know what something is called to find it - I tried Local Sales Barkhamsted and got nothing. You found Buy Sell Trade Barkhamsted? So I should try Community News Barkhamsted? (and other nearby towns) I did post on the local Historical Society page that we'll be at the next Barn Dance with samples of old-fashioned preserves, the Society liked my photo and put it in their album so I emailed the VP (a neighbor who calls each year to ask for donations) and asked her to "like" my page, not just the photo, if possible. I haven't heard back from the soup kitchen since I replied to their email thanking me for donations. Is it too pushy to ask for FB likes? What about being listed as a sponsor on their website (I don't know if they have a minimum $ amount to be listed, can ask but the town farm is one, they don't make $ donations and they are chartered to provide a certain % of their harvest to charity but they are still listed.) I won't be Boosting my page since I found it's $5/day to reach about 14 people, minimum 7 days!...See Moreanother facebook issue even for those not on facebook
Comments (12)unfortunately no Mike it could be enemies or those frienimies that once were friends and are no longer, often times they would do things like that simply because they can and they know it would be upsetting. Those people likely would not honor a request to please not do that. Or people that just get off on being A-holes they seem to be abundant. Also some people have been in groups or clubs etc and are no longer part of them, pictures of groups end up and not everyone in the group pic said it was ok to plaster their image every where. In fact I have been in pictures as a by stander and found my pic, had no idea it was there was never asked to be in a picture or to have it posted. Used to they had to ask permission to use your pictures and get signed release forms. Not to mention just being the polite thing to do. the thing about facebook is the opt out feature not opt in which makes if a bit different ballgame....See MoreSee how I come here before Facebooking?
Comments (22)I know more people who love Facebook than feel about it as I do. If it works for you - great! I did indulge myself in it for quite some time, but since I've distanced myself I find that I resent the notion that it's something that suits all of us. I blame the media and Corporate America in general. If I want to know more about a product, I'm encouraged to "Like" the manufacturer on Facebook. If I want more news from my local sources, I'm encouraged to "check out our Facebook page for more info." It's so much more than just a widely used social outlet - there's a thinly veiled insistence that we assimilate or be left out. And I don't take well to anyone even so much as hinting that I assimilate. ;-) Facebook brought me together with a large number of people from my past, and in most cases it became evident to me quickly why we parted ways and our relationship was left in the past. A couple of people were even downright nasty; one man that I'd dated very briefly in high school made a blatantly homophobic comment when I said something on my page in support of my gay cousin's rights (or lack thereof, I should say). For me, Facebook was largely a lesson in how life moves on and why. Too, when I found msyelf taking photos with the thought of the subject matter being something cool to post on Facebook, I knew it was past time to call it quits....See Morehelp! Comments (21)FB has had a stint of hacks and they have been pornography, profanity laced posts, etc. -- that was just last week or the week the before. Can't remember. Could very well be a hack - new activity on a stale account can make the account a target. Turning it over to FB might be the right answer. I made the mistake of not protecting my 'friends' list. I have never let my LinkedIN contacts list public - not even to current contacts. Not sure why I wouldn't protect the FB list too but I spaced and made the mistake of leaving it open. Long story short, a business arrangement ended badly and one of the starring nuckfuts involved used my list as a roster of sorts and called and/or emailed everyone on my list with bizarre, illiterate, incoherent rants. She even tried to 'friend' my friend's children and spouses (which REALLY freaked people out) because they didn't 'private' their lists, it was open season on their fb contacts too. I know several people reported her to fb and it stopped -- don't know why it stopped, but have to assume fb took care of it. But her delusional rantings wasted a lot of people's time, it was upsetting to them and they were genuinely concerned about her gaining access to family member's info/walls. All valid concerns because she demonstrated certifiable flat out raging crazy. It's hard to be *out there* in social media but using whatever privacy options are available helps at least a little bit....See Moreangelaid_gw
