2009 rainfall
Comments (6)Dprothy, That's a lot of rain. I think ours was only about 53" for 2009 but haven't added it all up and that would not be a record for our county. And, of course, for us 53" was a whole lot, especially compared to 2008, when we received just under 23". You're in Adair County, right? I've linked your county's one-page climate survey from the Oklahoma Climatological Survey, and it shows your county's record rainfall at just over 80" way back in 1927. Other climate data compiled at the state and county level is available to everyone at the OK Mesonet website and at the website of the Oklahoma Climatological Survey. Comments (6)Well, I finally finished mulching the side gardens. I bought almost 5 yards of mulch and still needed about 3 more yards to finish. I just ended up using dried leaves from my maples instead for the rest. I think I might even try to get back out there and try to mix up the leaves and mulch so it doesn't look so weird with mostly being mulch than just leaves. I'm very happy with how this year ended up and can't wait for next summer. I'm still undecided on if I should do birdhouse gourds or MG on the fence next year until the Clematis fill out (keeping them trimmed next year to concitrate on root growth). Hopefully my garlic comes up in the spring too. I had I think moles get into the bed and tunnel through it. I can see holes through the straw on top. I do plan on doing an early fall treatment of Milky Spore in 09 also. My yard is infested with JB grubs. I'm hoping in a few years I won't have to worry about the roots on my grass or other plants. When we rake in fall for leaves you wouldn't believe the amount of grass we pull up too. We'll see what next year brings :) Melissa new flower beds...See Morethank you everybody for a great place to visit and talk food! (lo
Comments (17)Thank you, Sherry, my long lost sister. (grin) I've learned much from you too, like perseverence in the face of adversity, and being willing to always open your door to any friend, and that we both love molasses cookies and that it's way better to travel with a friend. I've also learned a lot. I've learned that Peppi's Dad is even more amazing than Karen's chili, and that's pretty darned amazing. I've learned lots of Sven and Olie jokes from Linda (doucanoe), and Elery's favorite food is now sushi thanks to Diana, Jessica, Lars, Scott, Gina, Ann, Ellen and the California contingent. Jessica and her number 1 son gave me a better understanding of kosher and David taught me....well...we'll just keep that a secret, LOL. Nancy gave me my all time favorite jam recipe which is just awesome on sweet potato biscuits, something she also taught me. KatieC helped me with the Ph papers and canning, and Cathy taught me that some people peel asparagus, who knew? LOLOLOLOL SharonCB posted that awesome salmon quiche recipe which Elery loves and I'm going to have it for breakfast tomorrow, I think, so thanks for the reminder. Chase makes me want to do the Route 66 tour myself, so thanks a lot. Ahem. Carol (dishesdone) has adopted me for every Jewish holiday and showed me that gefilte fish really wasn't bad and the other Carol (Readinglady) has never given me bad canning advice or a bad bread recipe. Brenda taught me the difference between Michigan chili powder and Texas chili powder (grin) and there is a difference. So, thank you Sherry for starting this thread and thanks to everyone else for all yourhelp, your thoughts, your friendships. It's a great place, this forum! Comments (34)Just off the top of my head, I would probably move the table into the flex room right now and put your piano front and center in the great room. Make your piano the star in the room. Use the flex room as your dining room since you don't use it that often. Then I'd probably put a prep sink on the island with your cooktop centered as you had it. I'd move the ovens down to the left side and put the cleanup sink on the right with the dw to the right of the sink. You don't need a window over a cleanup sink as you spend maybe 10 minutes a day cleaning up. Put a pretty shelf or a dish rack or a pretty tile arrangement over the cleanup sink. I'd make the laundry room into one long room and move the W/D against the outside wall. You could also just enclose it with pocket doors and have the mudroom/laundry as one large room. I'd ditch the pantry sink and just have the pantry as one large pantry/butler's pantry. You have room to make the guest room larger. I did so in the plan. Yes it's not equal but you'll never notice it when you're actually walking into the room. Trust me on that. You don't view your space from the ceiling. That automatically narrows the foyer and since the door opens against the guest room, that too will help you not see that it's not "equal"....See Moreoklahomegrown
