Oakley do you wear flip flops? I know some people find them uncomfortable. In the summer I don't need house slippers for warmth so I have house- flops instead.

Same here, flip flops for summer. I love Reef and Teva flip flops and they both have some support. My mom loves Merrell flip flops.

In the house I am always barefoot, not even socks. I only wear shoes or slippers when I'm outside. If I get in the car, it's flip flops or work shoes, if I'm in the yard, its flip flops or slippers without a back. Wood floors have give in them so shoes aren't needed, at least for me,

If your feet need to breathe, go for natural materials. I love my summer slippers that my mom gave me as a gift. They have natural cork insoles and all-leather upper. No man-made materials that come in touch with my skin. Unfortunately, the brand is German-made and my mom bought the slippers in another country. I used to live in flip flops and for some reason I stopped wearing them years ago. I didn't wear them indoors because we had carpet then.

One problem is we have an unusually long straight walk space between the living room to the kitchen. I counted, it takes me 30 steps. lol. I'm also a fast walker which means I need something to stay firmly on my feet. If I can't walk fast around the house, then I tend to putter along and not get things done.

Lana, I've worn shoes like the one above and my feet always slide forward. Socks are definitely out in the summer.

Luck, walking barefoot on the floor is too hard on my feet, plus my feet get dirty since we get more dust from living on a dirt road.

I wear rubber garden clogs outside. I just ordered a new pair from Amazon. I think they were under $10. I kid you not, it's like walking on air. And I've had many garden clogs. But they're made of rubber so I can't wear them indoors.

I am in love with these glerups, but I have to admit to only trying them on in store - I don't actually own a pair. They are not cheap, but so lovely in look and feel I am hoping to get a pair soon. I know they look warm for summer, but I'm thinking that since they are wool, they'd let your feet breathe?

I love the style of the Gerups, but the wool would make my feet a bit too warm. They'd be perfect in the winter!

Oakley, why can't you wear your garden clogs inside? I have a pair of crocs that I wear, indoors and outside.

Go to footsmart.com...they have more selection than one person could use in a lifetime! I got the ortho heel (I think it is called 'Gemma' now) to get the arch support, and they are GREAT! I have had these for at least 7 years. The fabric is JUST starting to wear from my heel callouses. They can be thrown in the washer.

I wear a pair of Keen slides in the house. I have had bouts of plantar fasciitis and need the support of something other than a traditional slipper.

You're not alone, it is for my hubby too...I was raised coastal though where shoes were always an after thought.

Bare feet in summer, socks in winter cause my feer get cold. If I had cold tile floors(have wood)I might wear slippers.

Padded OP flip flops. Soooo comfy. Plus they come in pink and black which always gets a " I love your slippers" from my 5 y/o DGD.

At home I live in my Keds slip-ons, with socks. I never could go barefoot, even as a kid. The Keds have okay support, are comfy, and the canvas kind of breathes, especially when I wear breathable socks.

Bpathome, I have a pair of Ked's slip-ons, and a pair of their lace-up. I might give them a try because I like their support and I'd be able to zip aorund the house in them.

2pups, I also have bouts of plantar fasciitis . My first bout was about 10 years ago, and it came back a few weeks ago. Now it's gone. :)

Gail, I tried to wear the clogs inside but since they're made of rubber they make my feet sweat. I can't wear socks because the feet will get too hot.

I am exactly like Lukki when it comes to "slippers" - it seems! I don't like my feet covered. I love being barefoot. Most of our floors are wood and we have a basement and insulated floors, so even in winter I am fine to go barefoot or flipflops unless it is really, really cold. Then I will do backless (slipon) slippers. Wood floors do have give, it's the tile floors that get me - especially if I spend a day in the kitchen. BTW, crocs do have good arch support and the heel cup is supposed to be good too. I've known hairdressers that wore them because of the comfort.

Why do you need "slippers'? I only wear slippers first thing in the morning before I shower and get dressed. After that it's just regular shoes or Keen sandals in the summer.

rosesstink - I don't go barefoot and don't like to wear outdoor shoes inside, so it's either slippers (winter) or flip flops that are not worn outside.

Do Crocs make the foot sweat?

Rosesstink, I don't work outside the home so I walk quite a bit on the wood and tile floors and my heals start to hurt. When we had carpeting I'd always go barefoot. But I'm constantly zipping around the house and I need comfort on my feet.

I would think anything with a closed toe box out of a synthetic material would keep the toes warm and damp and ripe for fungus.

While not slippers, look into huaraches...they are more like a shoe for support, but with the open weave leather strips on top breathe very well.

They take some getting used to, if you haven't walked in them before, but I love my old wooden Dr. Scholl's sandals.

I havent worn crocs in years but they do keep your foot cool-- the textured bed and air vents are the key, I think. I loved them for dog walks, gardening and for quick trips to the grocery store. I also think those keen slip ons would be the same and likely offer more structure.

I also love fit flops (not flip flops-- FIT flops) -- they offer great support and even the thong style fits so securely that you don't have to worry about them coming off as you run around. I have a bronze and a silver sequin pair but they come in many styles and colors.

I also have a couple of pairs of these nike rosherun shoes-- they are mesh so very comfortable, light and airy even though they have a closed toe. You can't tel from the photo but the mesh around the foot is very thin-- in fact, I have the lime green and it is almost see thru. They are very comfortable -- so much so that I don't like to wear them for serious exercise kind of walks. They definitely wear more like a slipper than a nike sneaker.

I have a friend who lives in her Fit Flops. I found a pair I like in the ballet style but I can't see spending a $100 on them since I'll be wearing them inside and out during the day. I'm really rough with my houseshoes. lol.

I did find these which seems to be exactly what I want. Before I order any I need to check out more reviews on these.

I am very tough on shoes and mine have lasted years without showing any wear at all.
