LR pics--help me spend $ trying to get the process going in my he
Comments (7)I had to go back to see your other photos before making any suggestions, but upon doing so, would suggest several changes in furniture placement. You essentially have three walkways in that room, one to your bedroom, one to the kitchen, and one to the hallway for the other bedrooms. Upholstered furniture placement should be so that people can access each of these areas without having to walk in front of a chair or couch every time they pass. With that in mind, I would suggest that you move the large entertainment center to the opposite wall, where the couch and bookcase are currently placed. Then I would float a couch in the room, bringing it at least 4 feet away from any wall, with a console table behind it, either directly facing the ET center, or directly facing the fireplace. Then you could float the leather chair, and another comfortable chair, on each side of the fireplace if the couch were facing the fireplace. If you float the couch directly opposite the ET center, you could float the chairs on the hallway side, with a new table in between them. If you keep the bookcase, it could go on the wall leading to the bedroom hallway. I would put the large picture presently behind the couch over the mantle. A small sectional would be ideal floating in this room, too, keeping all paths to the master bedroom, kitchen and bedroom hallway clear. If you choose not to move the entertainment center from it's present position, I would suggest that you at least float your couch forward by three or four feet, with a walkway behind it, so you would have clear access between bedroom and bedroom hallway....See MorePlease help me refurnish my LR!
Comments (21)Have you seen deco chairs like that in person? They are really massive in scale. They would tend to overpower anything but a very bulky sofa. I think you can use a lighter scaled pair of chairs, especially if one of them has a small side table next to it. Go too large and you will start to cut off the DR. For end tables I would look at bedside chests and tables if you want something more solid. You used to be able to find simple solid cubes but I haven't seen many lately. Ethan Allen Chest: Here is my LR/DR which is quite large at 25 x 16 x 10 ceiling, and most of the seating is not massive in scale: the sofa is long at 96", My lamps are the same era as yours, and I think mine could have larger shades really. They did tend to go pretty big back then. The decor is not closely coordinated because I tend to add things I like as I go along....See MorePlease show me your finished Gray/Taupe LR
Comments (11)My living room is far from finished, but I have it painted in a light gray with white trim and a single large purple accent wall. The purple is a deep, dark, rich purple. I also have a scattering of purple accents in the room, as well as black and white and cream, brown leather, and dark wood. I love the color combination of gray and purple and visitors often compliment the color combination....See MoreHelp finishing my LR?
Comments (12)I think your room is beautiful and I love all the wood. Keep the piano!! While I really like the leather chair, I think the color of the grey one works better in your space. It brings the color of the rug into that part of the room, while the caramel chair kind of blends into the wood and adds more of that same color. I would do a gray chair with matching ottoman, or if you can find a gray and green print...that would be pretty fabulous! Green plants will also complement the gorgeous sofas and bring more of that color into the room. Even though you're getting lots of comments on things you didn't ask which I normally try to resist, I'm going to do it, too. I really think the coffee table isn't working. If you look at the staged photos and how large the table is between the parallel sofas, I think something larger would work better. And I agree with the comment that perhaps a stone table would work really well with your room and colors...the stripey wood just seems too rustic for the rest of the room. Another thing that works so well in the staged room is that the rug relates so well to the sofas. To me, the rug you're using doesn't really show off the green sofas to their best advantage. A rug that incorporates the green would work better, I think....See Moretibbrix
