Wedding Bells
Comments (9)sad to see that none of you are having much success with Wedding Bells- I'm really happy with mine. It did take awhile to get going, though. I bought it as a grafted bareroot, potted it up and it took off in a phenomenal way, and seemed to be sailing through extreme temps (so much so it got given "hottest spot in the yard place") until one heatwave proved too much and it got badly burnt. At that time, it hadnt flowered yet (a bit late compared to the other roses) but I put that down to it being a late starter/ wanting to grow rather than bloom at first. It took about a year to properly recover, but was so clean/healthy I decided to put it in the ground, and its done really well. Had it 3 ish years now, and so far it never gets any Blackspot or mildew, (not at all, and both are endemic in my garden) stays a nice roundish shrub shape, and now in mid winter, is one of only two roses in my garden that still has all its leaves. And it has 4 blooms on it! sadly its prolly too cold here for them to open now. Admittedly it still seems to start blooming a bit later than the other bushes, and the blooms do take forever to open, so the bloom cycle is a bit slower but then again they last really well. I cant get over how amazingly healthy it is, so I'm happy to keep it; judging on behaviour so far, I figure the blooming will improve with age....See MorePrettiest rose bush in your garden?
Comments (20)111plisa - I need to get another photo of Savannah, that is just starting to open blooms the last couple of days. I'd have to say of the 3 roses I purchased last year, this one is my favorite. I know the color is really iridescent and hard to describe or see in a photo, and that's the main reason, but I haven't figured out yet why I like it more than the others. [g] I still think I probably haven't lived with any of these roses long enough to have a final verdict. Definitely will keep them through next season and start looking for something more graceful to add as well. I'll take a look at the others you mentioned. Thank you!...See MoreHT-s for Humid High Black-Spot Areas?
Comments (16)We have 2 Savannah (Kordes) in our muggy, Maryland yard and they are lovely, albeit large. One gets partial sun, the other gets all day (the latter is the biggest). Both have excellent re-bloom, scent, and form. I haven't had them long enough to say what their final size/shape will be, but they are both extremely healthy with minimal spraying. Bonus: the deer seem to avoid them! Pros: Healthy, excellent scent and re-bloom, long-lasting blooms, deep green foliage. Cons: Tends to get large, color can get *too* vivid in deep summer, blooms tend to flatten as they age. I don't have any photos to post but Google image search results are fairly accurate....See More2022 Kordes Roses in My Garden
Comments (48)@dianela7analabama Good Evening, Dianela,, Soring & summer my roses were all doing well. I just had Lavendar Veranda delivered a month ago and she’s leafed out nicely w/ a few blooms. However, it started raining every 3 days, 2 weeks ago. It is humid or ground is almost always damp. No BS on Lavender Veranda. She is in a very sunny spot 10+ hours sun-all day! She is on hill drains well. I don’t have it as humid as you and its not feeling humid now…. but the soil stays damp and rains too much. BTW, “New 2022-2023 Proven Winners , Houzz thread show new Reminiscent Roses. I have Reminiscent Pink & Crema and they are amazingly disease resistant!! Esp. the Crema. Neither get BS. R Pink-I saw a tad of mildew. R Crema can sit in soggy soil ( from too much rain) & grow as if it‘s no problem!-no fungus ever!!!!!...See Moresteve_gw
