Eden climber in bloom
Comments (24)This response comes a bit late, but if you are still wondering, the dark red rose behind Eden is Braveheart--one of my favorites. A Clements rose, if I remember correctly. It has Austin's Dark Lady somewhere back in its ancestry. Here is a picture of it--if you squint, you can see Eden upper center, slightly to the right in the pic. In real life, it stands out much better. Took me forever to learn to take a pic that didn't bleed a lot of red. Here was my first nice close-up. Kate...See MoreNeed Climbers to Rival Eden. . .
Comments (3)Cl Caroline Testout!!! I haven't had mine long enough to say that, to be fair, but she is just so gorgeous, vigorous and healthy so far that I can't resist suggesting her :) My Cinderella Fairytale would get that tall if I let her, and she is gorgeous, too. She takes a while to come into her own and get really big, and then she's so pretty! She blooms more than Eden but perhaps not as much as MC Testout. She's a shell pink (like Eden here) where MC Testout is a cooler, medium pink. And then there's The Wedgwood Rose for another stunning climber I have and love, and her fragrance is excellent to boot, but she has thin petals that can discolor easier than the others. Her flowers nod, but I love that. She does bloom a whole lot. She's the palest of the ones I mention, about like New Dawn. For a truly gorgeous pop of color that would fit with your colors, consider Parade! I love, love, love my Parade. Check out her pics on Helpmefind and you'll see what I mean :)...See MoreIs this a good deal? PIP Eden climber 4" pot $20?
Comments (7)I have to agree with mad and hoovb, that's a very tiny plant to try and winter over in zone 5. It's too small to plant out and even wintering it in a pot would be iffy. And don't try to bring it inside. While I have heard of people doing it I've never successfully kept a rose inside the house over an entire winter. Household climates are rarely conducive to happy healthy rose growth. I'd either wait until next spring or order something from a nursery for spring delivery. Besides, this is a newer variety and will probably be available locally next spring....See MoreAnyone growing Pretty in Pink Eden? (Or Eden?) Rebloom, Dead Heading
Comments (23)@CeresMer Zone 7a NJ The bands of Bolero when I got them were small and had a little BS. Since I had never gotten bands before they looked especially small. However when I went on to planting them in the ground I found all three to be very well rooted. The three just hung in there all last year. I guess they were dropping roots. This year they just took off. I could not be more pleased. This is one of the bands: This is the three of them in the ground last fall: This is one of them with huge fragrant flowers this spring: The shrubs are much, much, bigger now but I dont have a current picture. I think I allowed them to grow by removing 95% of the forming buds. Still there are more than enough flowers. I cant guarantee each and every purchase will be perfect but every rose I got from them is doing well. If you buy through Amazon you can return/get refund if you get a bad guy. Shipping gets less on multiples. I dont have that much experience buying roses but I think this a good purveyor. You will love Bolero, especially after a year or two!...See MoreAshley (Idaho zone 5b)
