Budget kitchen progress, backsplash help please!
Comments (12)I agree that you have created a wonderful, warm and inviting kitchen. I also agree that you might wait on the backsplash because you might decide that you are happy with the painted walls. We did that initially as a cost (and work) savings, and ended up liking the choice. To provide a finished look, we bought some 1 x 4 maple (our cabinets were -- and are -- natural maple), routed an edge we liked and used them as our "backsplash." It's a nice clean look. You could probably do the same, using, of course, wood to match your cabinets. You can see the strip of wood to the left and right of the sink -- and behind the wine bottles on the right. (Wine: the drink of choice of kitchen remodelers everywhere!) From GardenWeb Photos Since your stove already has a raised area in the back, you might not need anything else. If you do, you could install a piece of glass or stainless steel, as in these pictures from Houzz. Comments (6)Both those tiles are stunningly beautiful, but I think I would go with one or the other. Using both might be too busy looking (and compete with the star pendants). Personally (from looking at your first & second pics) I would be tempted to just use the leafy one - it is so unique, and goes with both the counter and the island. Whatever you decide, please post pics (because I am not finished drooling over your kitchen yet LOL)...See MorePlease help? Time to up date kitchen counters and backsplash - Help!
Comments (24)Rachel M. Frazier - Whew - I've been second guessing myself so badly. Thanks for affirming my choices. I keep scrolling back to all the comments about going with a white counter on the perimeter and the picture you posted. And while it's actually almond in color, not white, I'm thinking maybe I can get the same effect using the same principles applied for white. I wasn't planning to change the base color of the island - should I be? And I'm planning to keep the island counter the same as the perimeter. I can't see myself giving a wood counter the proper care it'd need over time. Do you think I'll need to swap hardware? It's currently a satin nickel color? Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. I just want to update it! In the next few weeks, the BS will be removed, Silken Pearl installed as well as a new undermounted sink and faucet. I keep telling myself, one step at a time - all the while wanting all the pieces of this puzzle put together before I start. So many details! I sure appreciate the help!...See MorePlease help me in choosing kitchen backsplash!
Comments (7)Someone else just posted a completed remodel with that same last tile I think. It looks really cool if you have a big enough wall space for it! https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6201378/the-remodel-that-took-a-year...See MoreNothing Left to Say
