This has been a long process but I think I'm almost there!

I love my kitchen from all of you, now I need to decide on backsplash. At first I thought I wanted "wow" factor but now I'm going towards relaxed so long story short I brought home these 2 samples and I am thinking of using them both.

i would do the pretty leafy tile under the hood and the bluish tile in a herringbone pattern everywhere else I am doing the whole back wall.

What do you think!

The leafy tile is beautiful!! And really compliments your island color. However, I think the blue tiles-esp in herringbone would be distracting.

Your pendant lights are already the star in there. If you do the leaf tile over the range only--Iwould do something nondescript for the field tiles-white subway.

Very pretty kitchen!

I love your choices! I don't think I would use the herringbone pattern with the blue tile, however, but that just may be my particular preference.

I don't think we'll ever fully redo this kitchen. We'll probably only be in this house for another 2-5 years, and we're really just looking to make the space more enjoyable for us and up the resale value a bit. Our kitchen is very small, especially for a 4 bedroom house. So without knocking down walls and changing the whole layout of the 1st floor, we're not going to have a gourmet kitchen. And we're just not prepared to put that kind of money in the house given the state of the market, and I don't think our neighboorhood can support the kind of increase in price that we'd want to see to make it worth it. Sorry for all that rambling! Long story short, I think we're going to try to keep it simple for now, and save all these beautiful kitchen ideas for our next house.

I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Both those tiles are stunningly beautiful, but I think I would go with one or the other. Using both might be too busy looking (and compete with the star pendants). Personally (from looking at your first & second pics) I would be tempted to just use the leafy one - it is so unique, and goes with both the counter and the island. Whatever you decide, please post pics (because I am not finished drooling over your kitchen yet LOL)

That leafy tile is really gorgeous, if it were me, I’d use it as a center piece like you described but with simple white tile elsewhere. I have to agree with the others about the blue herringbone, in this case, less is more.

The leafy tile is beautiful, but that's a whole lot of grout in between each piece of tile. The last place I'd put something like that would be by a cooktop. I would go with the blue tile set in the herringbone pattern through-out instead.
