As seen on TV: the Vegetti, have you tried it?

I've been thinking about getting the Vegetti and finally did it. Like others here, I'm low carb but miss spaghetti, so here's tonight's dinner:

Have you tried spaghetti squash? That is good as a pasta substitute too, and you don't need a special device.

Socks, I don't have a spiralizer (yet), but do serve julienned veggies very frequently, especially in the summer when I've got zucchini everywhere. I've made meals like yours many times! ;-)

Zucchini is my favorite, but I also julienne carrots, sweet potatoes, beets, jicama, and others. I love my julienne peeler and my mandolin.

Not a fan of spaghetti squash, but I know that some people are.

Two of my very favorite products As Seen On TV are Mighty Putty and the removable wall hooks from 3M. We've puttied up splintered wood and drilled holes in it to hang baskets, we've puttied up holes in the garden hose, repaired window sash closures, the stuff is great. The removable wall hooks were terrific for hanging indoor Christmas lights around the house. When Christmas was over I just pulled the hooks off - no damage to the walls. Off Topic... For those who don't know this part of the globe, my drive to Ashland from St. Paul was not quite half a day, leisurely ambling along Hwy 2 from Duluth-Superior. Driving was good on a Thursday in the pre-tourist season on a sunny day. It's such an early spring that the natural world seems out of whack. Lots of ducks and geese to watch and the pussy willows have already gone past the pussy stage and have iridescent green fluff on them in silhouette. I spent an hour at the Timeless Timbers warehouse + gift shop and the rest of the afternoon in the archive at the visitor center that also houses some of the Wisc. Hist. Soc. stuff for the area. Because this time of year puts deer on the road in early evening, I did not waver off the highway very much on return trip. Did buy some of DH's favorite beers but had no time to seek out my usual cheese shop haunts in western Wisc. and no time to poke around on Brule R. or St. Louis R. where I usually spend time at parks watching spring water flow gush through the historic waterways. Did find some cheese ends for cheap at a grocery store. Left at 9 am, got home at 9 pm. I am very familiar with Madeline Island and Bayfield and Cornucopia and will be up there in a few more weeks to look at spring wildflowers (and perhaps to pick up two pieces of butcherblock countertop if I weaken in my resolve to keep to budget). Might also paddle a voyageur canoe around the Apostles if my calendar works out for summer. rjr220: There's an internet page "going around" right now that shows places in U.S. which have more bars than grocery stores and guess what? Wisconsin wins! If you know back country Wisconsin, you know that the local bars are the community gathering places. Go Packers! If you get a chance to visit the Timeless Timbers lumber yard at some point, would love to know what you think of the products. The Cheese, Beer, and Wine promotion councils of Wisc. have a great promo map of the state which is a hoot to follow, if you need a diversion when visiting. Personally, I think they need to add sausage joints to the map also, and maybe pasties. Watch out for the speed trap in Iron River! P.S.--Timeless Timbers needs about 3 week lead-time to produce countertops currently. Your results may vary. The visitor center has large area of Timeless Timber flame birch used in front hall cabinetry. Good place to see actual use of the product as furniture, not butcherblock.

This was an episode of Amazing Stories, a TV show from Steven Spielberg that lasted about 2 years. I've been looking for it but haven't seen it this year. It is my hands-down favorite Christmas - themed broadcast. It stars Douglas Seale as Santa, Pat Hingle as Sheriff Horace Smyvie & Gabriel Damon as Bobby. Wiuthout going into too much detail, Santa trips a burglar alarm while delivering gifts in a small town and is locked up in jail with three drunken department store type 'Santa's. Christmas would be doomed without young Bobby's efforts in getting Santa out. The mean sheriff also has a change of heart at the end. Does this sound famailar? Have you seen it? Spaghetti squash is a good choice too, but as I recall, zucchini is lower in carbs. And I grow zucchini so will enjoy using the spiralizer this summer.

I recently bought a Spiralizer and Inspiralized cookbook. I'm looking forward to subbing veggies for pasta and more.

We have one and we like it very much. It comes with a little recipe book and they are very good. I don't cook it for very long though, we like ours a little Al dente.

I bought a spiralizer last summer and I love it. I spiral cut zucchini and summer squash and microwave the squash for a few minutes for a tasty side dish that's become a favorite of my family. I haven't tried other vegetables yet, but I want to make a salad with cucumber ribbons. Just be cautious when you wash the blades as they are super sharp.

I got the Paderno one with the four blades that was recommended in the Cooking Forum: http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2814503/do-i-need-a-spiralizer-w-s-sale It's at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AW3B5MM/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1429026963&sr=1&keywords=paderno+four+blade+spiralizer) for $50 currently, though I paid 30% less. I'm sure someone else has a reasonable price. It's less fussy than the $10 cone shaped ones, and does more. Recently, I made "carrot confetti" on the finest setting and the little girls loved all the LONG strings. I also used the plain blade to spiral slice (like those boingy potatoes that were so stylish ten years ago) watermelon radishes. If you twist the resulting chain, you get a ruffle, and it looked spectacular, besides being the exact right thickness for eating. Even though I use mandolines often, I was surprised at just how easy it was to use.

I have one and I like to sautee the squash in a little olive oil or butter with salt, pepper and garlic and perhaps a bit of onion. I've never tried to use it in place of spaghetti. I don't like spaghetti squash.
