I got my marble!!!!!!! Doing happy dance :)
I finally did it. I found some marble....and it's beautiful :)
It's from Portugal and it's called (according to label still on the back) Rosa Aurora. It's lovely and I'm so excited!!!
This was the top of a very cute table I found on CL today...and I had to see if the marble was real. It was...and it was not even attached, just sitting on top. So, now I have a little table (that needs a new top) and some lovely marble.
Oh, and best part....it's 26" x 18" which will be perfect for my little baking area. I think we'll keep it out all the time. It's too heavy to pick up and put away! It will just have to live on the butcherblock....once I find some :)
I love Craigslist!
Almost forgot....I got the little dresser, too :)

Comments (2)Mary, if you're going to be the city of Chicago proper and on the north side I got all my pine bark fines at The Farmer's Market on 4400 (something) north on Elston. That was the only place in the city proper that I could find that had this. I bought my last bags for this season there yesterday and saw they have about 1/2 pallet left. I will look for that particular verbascum. Does it come true from seed? You're right, the bombyciferus does not have impressive flowers, and they open, like, one at a time, so you never really get a "burst" of color. But, I did like the foliage, and it looked kind of majestic in my garden. But, I'm over that phase now. Just like I'm over gooseneck loosestrife - talk about a job digging that stuff out of my garden! I had to kill 2 or 3 plants in order to get the roots out. The topless table would be cute used as a wash stand. Make a top from a piece of wood, then cut a circle to hold an old-fashioned wash bowl and pitcher--there's already a shelf for the chamber pot ;). Or make it into a plant stand for the porch.
