I lost interest in the book about halfway through. I know it's based on Cheryl Wild's real experience hiking the Pacific Coast Highway, and I do want to finish the book, then watch the movie. Glad you enjoyed it.

I think you meant the Pacific Crest Trail. The Pacific Coast Highway is a different type of wild adventure. ;)

I watched Wild when it was in the theaters. It is a good movie, and I enjoyed the story. But don't expect to see much of what it is like hiking the trail from the movie. The movie focuses on the people story, and rightly so. But having hiked many sections of the PCT, it was a bit of a letdown that the movie made the trail experience seem so lackluster. Seriously, there are a lot of singing birds and chattering squirrels out there, and throughout most of the movie it was so unnaturally quiet, it was like watching a nature video with the sound off.

I am sure you are right gyr but like you said, the movie was about Cheryl's struggle with her past & I just fell completely in love with it. I bawled like a baby right along with her after that lil boy sang, so moving :)

I read the book recently, it dragged in spots (too much about her shoes and feet) but was mostly very enjoyable. I am waiting for the movie to come out on TV.
