Here is my street. It is hard to see but my house is going in that dark patch of dirt in front of the blue house/garage. The house to the right is a sort of tan color and to the left is a green house. Surprisingly, my street is pretty bland looking compared to the rest of the community.

Here are some other red homes in the neighborhood.

With white shutters and dark grey door.

Black shutter white door. (Don't think I want a white door)

Blue door. I really like this one, but they have cream trim. Not sure a fun color like this will work white stark white trim.

I love the dark red house with the gray door.

What do you think about the red in general?

And as far as the shutter (I only have one window with them, lol) and door color? What about a dark grayish blue?

I LOVE the red houses! But, I was wondering if the color fades over time? Wasn't it the Victorians who never painted the body of their houses in dark colors, but used dark trim colors? Of course that was a long time ago. Hopefully the colors are less likely to fade today.

I have heard darker siding colors, like your red, fade in direct sun. I don't know if that's true with your type of siding, but it's something to ask about.

I think the Concord Buff with SW Naval shutters and a turquoise door, like you posted above, would look so good.

I'm sure red does fade to some degree, but I don't know that it's enough of an issue to deter me. I have driven by red homes in this neighborhood that have been around for almost ten years and didn't notice any fading. And it is very sunny here.

I like the red! And I was going to suggest navy even before I saw your blue options. Hale navy is a nice color.

Don't give up on yellow. This is from the SherwinWilliams site. Red is my favorite color but I chose a taupe color for my exterior. The house and trim are what you said in your post. The door is the SW color Spangle.

I think the Concord Buff might read very orange or peachy, so might want to try a swatch of it first.

The stark white is going to give the Barn Red a more contemporary look. to keep it crisp, I'd go with black shutters and a black door. Black and red are so beautiful on house exteriors, IMO.

I really love the red and gray, however fading would be a concern. Manufacturers for vinyl siding have come a long way to significantly reduce the risk of fading, but of course as with anything, it is all based on price. The cheaper the vinyl, the higher the risk. You may want to confirm with your builder that the siding they are going to install is indeed of a quality specifically designed to handle the darker colors. But don't just take their word for it, get the brand and model number and do some research of your own before you set your choice in stone.

The siding is hardie board painted on site with SW paint. I've had hardie board before in my previous house as did my entire neighborhood. There was only maybe one red house, but I never noticed fading on it. I have seen fading on the homes that were darker green and blue.

I like black or charcoal grey too for the door and shutters, but not as much with the brown roof. The brown roof pulls me towards the navy option.

Ohh. Hmm, I know nothing about hardy board, what I do understand though is regardless of product type, all siding fades to some degree. It just probably happened very slowly which made it less noticeable and that is a good thing. While lovely, I suspect fading is why most people don't go that route. I would still do the due diligence on my own to see what can be expected with the exact board being used for your home. I admire your choice and there is no doubt that it will look amazing.

I love red and would paint my house red if I thought I could pull it off. I like it especially on smaller houses, but the larger ones shown here also look good. I too would worry about fading, because once color lifts from red, it just ain't red anymore. My house's southern exposure may have faded a bit in the 15 years (15 years?!!!) since it was last painted, but it's still gray, only a hair lighter.

I LOVE the red and the blue door! Great colors. Can you ask the ctr. about fading, warranty for fading? What a great looking community.

I think the color red you posted is great. It also looks much better with cream colored trim than white. Red clapboard, cream trim, light gray/brown shutters and door.

I like it with cream trim as well, unfortunately it's not an option. They builder has the approved combos from the development so it must be white trim with red, same as the yellow- which I think looks nice with cream as well.

Ressepbuttercup- looking at your samples in your first post, I just realized I have a friend who lives in that development! I thought it looked familiar. Her house is blue with a yellow door. Small world! I live in Cache Valley, up north from you. Hope you enjoy your cute new house.

Gray would be nice with the red, but I think the brown roof makes gray a problem, hence my vote for black, which goes with red, white AND brown!

Definitely go with the red house, no shutters, blue door. I love the red!
