Melissa. Deep breath. No one has insulted your home. Least of all Gwen who called it cute and wrote that the only thing it needs is a gallon or two of paint.
You have said a couple of times that you're new to the forum so I'm going to be presumptuous and offer you some advice:
-don't take comments personally. Most commenters see dilemmas as problems to be solved so take a more impersonal (read: can be unfriendly seeming) approach. Some are genuinely insulting but they are very obvious about it.
-don't read tone into comments. Read them in a completely neutral inner voice. For example, "tiny" isn't an insult. Your perception of what it means to live in a less than expansive home might make it feel like a slam, but that's not on the commenter. That's on you and your preconceived notions of what is acceptable. We all have those notions, you're not alone in that. In itself, the word is neither good nor bad. Only true or not true. Try to remind yourself of that.
-say what you mean. You've used the terms "lol" and "I like how..." but I think you mean neither of those things. We can't hear your tone or see your body language. So use your words to express your true thoughts. We also tend to scan over some comments. So if you're addressing Gwen and you say "I like how..." I might not read any further. And I'm left with the impression that you like what Gwen suggested. So I'm likely to suggest similar or not suggest anything else, because I think you're happy with the advice you got. I hope that makes sense...
-take the time to thank everyone for every comment even if you don't agree with it. It means a lot and then we are sure you have seen it, so we won't repeat ourselves. Well, some of us will lol.
-when you don't agree with a comment or like an idea, explain why or say what you would prefer. Most people want to see you happy, so we won't give you ideas if we know you hate them. We'll try to work with your preferences.
These are just the trends I've noticed on the most successful dilemmas. I hope you stick with this because I think you have a great basis for a cute little house.
