My first order from them and I'm very pleased. The roses were very healthy and have done great so far. The ones in pots are actually doing better than the ones I planted in the ground, but I believe that is because of the potting soil which has an active ingredient in it.

I am a little embarrassed, but when I got my order of 9 bare roots, I was shocked by how small the box was. I had heard that Palantine roses were huge with big root balls so when I took out the three bundles, I assumed it was three roses. But it was three bundles of three roses each! I had called Palantine and they explained it to me.

When push comes to shove, Palatine is a great rose company. They sell only the best out of their fields. That being said, what else did you get from them???

If you are asking me Ken, I ordered Mellow Yellow because I had one a couple of years ago that didn't make it through the winter, so I thought I would try it on multiflora, also Chrysler Imperial, got it for the same reason, I love both of those roses. Also got a Queen Elizabeth, because it has been a very good rose for me and Beverly, because I am hoping it will be a good bloomer and an all around good rose.

I too received an awesome looking order. I only ordered three but they look great.

I now have JP II, Gemini, Double Delight, Razzle Dazzle, Dainty Bess, Rainbow Niagara (which used to be known as Tropical Sunset), Dark Desire, Lucille Ball and Paradise.

Sounds like you got some good ones Buford, I do wish I had gotten a Gemini this year. I think Lucille Ball is gorgeous, I've considered getting it several times. Would love to know how yours does this season.

i had Gemini years ago. I bought it and another rose from J&P. At the time, I though it has some weird kind of powder mildew, but now I realize it had RRD. I think it came from J&P with it. Anyway, it was dead the first winter. I didn't know what RRD was back then. I am glad to have it again. I will post pictures when they bloom.

You must have the last Folklore. That and Fragrant Cloud are sold out.

You gotta order from Palatine when they open in September (usually 9/1), and request shipping for your area in the spring (mine came last week). Even then, some varieties are limited, and you might miss the window, even by a day.

It looks like they pot some up and you can pick them up in person, in Canada. I requested a catalog for next year, when available.

Ordered 2 Ascots and a Bride's Dream from them last year. That was my very first order. I was so pleased by the packaging and the huge deep green canes. My roses did really well last year. Ascot bloomed it's head off. This year I too was surprised by the smaller package since I ordered four roses this time. When I unpacked the box. The roses were just as healthy with beautiful canes. I ordered Martine Guillot, the Regensberg rose, Poseidon and Tineke. I'm looking forward to great blooms on these as well,

Altogether I am as pleased as pie with Palantine.

I got two orders this season. Got CRESCENDO, DARK DESIRE and SUNNY SKY a few months ago. Those are potted up and getting close to blooming. I just got the second order a week or so ago. Got mostly climbers for some areas where I'm putting them onto arbors between beds. Got SALITA, HARLEKIN and THREE WEDDINGS. Then I also grabbed LA ROSE OPTIMISTE.

I hope they still offer LUCILLE BALL next yr. Mine just died a few months ago. She struggled for the last few yrs, but I thought she'd recovered. I would've ordered her earlier, but she was already sold out.

What are the good cold hardy rebloomers (old garden roses) from Palatine?

I got my order Wednesday, FOLKLORE, BRIDE'S DREAM, RINA HUGO, and POSEIDON. All were big, healthy, and lots of roots.

I have been growing roses for 30+ years, and have ordered from all over - this year my order from Palatine of about 35 bushes was hands down the best group of roses I have ever received. The size of the canes was really just amazing - twice as thick as one might hope for - while roses I got from Hortico and others were acceptable and viable, these roses looked like they were on steroids! The results during the season have mirrored how they looked at planting last fall - really top notch. This is such a hard and unrewarding business, it is hard to make a decent living - Palatines deserves to be supported. (I only wish they grew all the varieties I want!) They do grow a very wide range of Kordes roses - of the roughly 40 Austin and 50 Kordes roses I planted this year, the difference in disease resistance is really obvious - the Kordes roses are almost perfect, while almost all the Austin roses did get some mildew and a few got a lot of black spot. So, I should really explore Palatine's offering more.

I will be ordering again this fall. September 14th is the date, write it down.

I ordered 8 roses from them for the first time this spring. When I went to pick up near the end of April, there was some confusion and the order was not packed. He gave me the potted stocks from his polyhouse with no extra charges. They were the most healthy looking roses, and I gained a few weeks of growth. Both him and his wife are really nice people. I think next year I will try to order their potted stocks perhaps paying a little more.

I just went to visit them last month, I posted some photos on other thread, purchased 8 potted roses from them, very happy with the roses. I might go for another visit this month.

do they sell all their roses on multiflora root stock?

Dang! I cant use multiflora. I tried a few years ago when I was a rose newb and had no clue about root stock it does not fare well here. All 6 roses died within the year. :(

But I'm glad its available for those who need it. :)
