Anyone want to weigh in or post pictures of your PebbleSheen?

I believe we are going with Blue Granite. But seriously - I change my mind constantly - and this is a really big deal. I have seen them all in person and love them all . . . here are the 3 colors I have it narrowed down to.

Blue Granite
Aqua Blue
Desert Gold
But would still love to see other pics!

Our pool will not be super deep - probably 5'6" in the deepest area - so I am more concerned with the color in 3'6" - 5'6"

We went with pebble sheen. We were originally going to do just Aqua Blue. After viewing a few pools that were Aqua Blue we didn't like the way the color on the shallow steps looked. Really grey and to me really took away from the rest of the pools Aqua color. No mater what color we choose for the pool the step and shallow area of the pool has a grey or green color. That's not the look I was going for so we decided on Desert Gold for all the shallow areas and steps and Blue Granite for the rest of the pool. Couldn't be happier with our decision. What made you go with sheen over tech? Sheen has much finer pebbles vs tech has much larger so you can see them much better. I'm suppose to go look at 2 pools this weekend to decide myself.

Sheen is suppose to be smoother over tech but the looks are nite to day.

I just liked the feel of the sheen - the tek was just a little too rough. It is beautiful though! Please take pics when you visit tge pools & post!! I'd love to see them!

Rich, You did a great job on the glass tiles! Your pool looks nice. Make sure you watch for the water traveling horizontally on the stacked stone. Your pool builder may need to make some adjustments, I looked on your Photobucket gallery and noticed you may have some issues with your spa spillover. It looks like you may be getting some water from your spillover onto your deck. Golden pearl is one of the stone mixes Pebble Tec/Sheen uses in some of their colors including Pebble Sheen - Desert Gold. you most likely have Pebble Sheen. However, everyone must be careful! Many builders in out area (I am sure others too) are cutting corners due to market conditions. Always make sure your getting what you paid for!

I love the texture (we went with Pebble Sheen) I do not think I would like Pebble Tec..I have pretty sensitive feet and push off the walls a lot. I thought we would have to wear pool shoes but my kids who really walk a lot more in the pool than I do (I swim laps mostly) have had no problem. I actually like the gray look..we live on a farm and to me it looks more like natural stone color....I had wanted to go with the Irish Mist, but they told me it may be too farmy for my liking..too green :) The cat licking the step was as it was filling up...hope these help!

sls15b, Congrats on your pool--how exciting. Who is your PB if you dont mind me asking? I am now wishing we would have started the process back in March and we could be swimming now. I would love to see some of your pictures. Please do post them when you get a chance. We don't have any trees, full sun on the pool pretty much all day. We are going with a Roman/Grecian style pool with half moons on each side except the side with the wall. I like the clean lines and didn't want curves. So I'm hoping the Aqua Blue looks good here. Thanks for your help....can't wait to see your pictures.

I find it odd that the installer won't give you any references, that would raise a red flag in my book. Please keep in mind, as reiterated over and over on this forum, that your finish will look different depending on angle of the sun, which changes during the day and seasonally, color of surrounding hardscaping and landscaping, cloud cover, etc. I don't know what you expect from "true to life" photos, but camera exposures and settings, and color differences in computer screens and monitors will also affect the exact color. The best you can do is visit pools as close to you as possible with the most similar surroundings, i.e. pool same cardinal direction from the house.

makingbeacon, what was it you liked better about the looks of the Tek over the Sheen? I haven't looked at any pools yet. I guess I need to call Jan! You guys are getting ahead of me! Let us know what you see -- give us all the nitty gritty details!

I agree Wendy, I also need lots of pics! I've looked all over the net, but each pool color looks like 10 different colors. I understand it's that way in person, too, but surely there is some way to get a better idea.

So true!!! 5 pics of pools, all the same color and look totally different!!!

Definitely get in and walk around on the different finishes. They are very different - you either love it or hate it.

Thanks for the encouragement! I know I need to do that - look at and walk around on the different finishes. I'm just procrastinating. Call me old fashioned, but I think I like the plain plaster best, in maybe a soft gray. But.... I don't want to resurface the pool in 10 years. It seems like the Pebble Tec or Sheen is really the way to go.

We live in Palm Springs, Ca. Built our spool with spa and tanning shelf last spring, chose blue granite pebble sheen with added abalone that I'm over the moon for! This photo is a general over all look, I'll post close ups tomorrow if you'd like.

The tech's pebbles are much larger to see in the water but has a little rougher surface. The sheen has much finer pebbles which are harder to see but the surface is smoother. It's all preference - either you like the looks or you like the smoother surface on the feet. You can go to modern method's gunite web site and look at all the colors and decide. All colors are there.

Is it more to do that? Have the Baja Shelf a different color? Honestly - I would LOVE to have the dessert gold in the spa and tanning ledge - and the rest Blue Granite - but I am so over budget - I haven't even said that outloud.

Think it depends on your builder. The color blue granite was one of the standard colors to choose from. To add the Desert Gold ran us about $1800 more because of the process in which it takes to do the two toned look. It's more time consuming than just shooting one color. Due to the clean out process with the machines, the curing time before they can shoot the next color and cutting in the transitional line. To us it was totally worth it though to spend the extra money. Keep in mind that our cabo shelf was 10x15 and actually I believe as we were in the dig process I bumped it out to be 13x15.
