Selling car by owner, then buying a car by owner
Comments (13)Funny stories about different transactions. Bill_h, I'm glad to read that in the Motor City, it's somewhat of a free-for-all. It just seems appropriate, being the home of the U.S. auto industry. One thing that can work well for selling a car -- if you're replacing it with a new or used car from a dealer -- is what dealers around here call a "courtesy trade." You and the buyer of your car agree on a price as usual, then you and your buyer go together to the dealer where you're buying your new car. The dealer shows your old car on the sales documents as a trade, with the value being the price the buyer is going to pay for it. This saves you on sales tax in many states. The buyer then purchases the car from the dealer for that price. I know of many dealers who will do this for free, as a service to the person buying the car from them. A few charge the buyer a standard "paperwork" fee. They're willing to do it even though they make no money on the sale of the trade because it can help you buy the new car, since the buyer is presumably giving you more for it than the dealer would have....See MoreMy first experience with a sick (literally) child...
Comments (30)It is so hard at that age. When they get older, they know it's coming, too, and can get to the toilet. But toddlers/preschoolers, it just spews wherever they are! They don't understand, they just see/feel their body doing something very scary and painful. It's hard. Poor Grant! I'm glad he got his rest and is getting back to himself. The worst night I had was when #4 was about 18 mos, which made the others 3, 6, and 9 at the time. About 4am one of them woke up sick, threw up, about the time I had that one settled back down in clean sheets the next one woke up and threw up. And it continued until all 4 of them had thrown up 3-4 times. It was just constant well into the next afternoon. At first I thought I must have fed them all something bad and went through the kitchen trying to consider the possible problem, but some friends reported the same bug with their kids and DH and I avoided it. Oh, the laundry! Every blanket, sheet, pillowcase, and big beach towel in the house was a mess. I think I avoided that one somehow. A little girl on DD's gymnastic's team was sick (nauseous, didn't throw up yet) this weekend at while at the gym. Her mom warmed up Sprite in the microwave for the girl to sip before she took her home. She said it works for her kids every time....See MoreWhere do I stand - literally
Comments (8)My first thought when reading the original post: "WHY would anyone take their (small) kids to go buy a car??? WHY??? It is stressful and usually takes a long time, especially if you end up buying it. (unless you are very lucky and get the car you want at the price you want and there's no haggling but then there is always a ton of paperwork) Kids get restless and hungry, tired, etc. That's one place that I'd invest in a babysitter or go on a weekend the kids are not there. Nevertheless, I agree with whoever said one with dad, one with you. You can take turns... teaches them to 'share' dad too. It would depend on their age of course and it's more understandable with younger kids. If they only see dad EOW, then it makes it a big deal to get to hold dad's hand, etc. But, if you work on building a relationship with the kids, they might not see you as competition for dad's attention. If they are getting lots of attention from dad AND you, they will hopefully be less likely to treat you as an outsider. and I agree with Kathline. It takes time, patience, understanding and more patience. They may not want dad to get married but don't know how to say it so they act out. It may have nothing to do with you, it won't matter WHO dad is going to marry. If you take it personally, there is bound to be resentment. When you marry someone with kids, you can't have the same kind of relationship with your spouse that you can have when there are no kids. The kids are there and everything (or it will seem like everything) you do will be with taking the kids into consideration... and you have to be prepared for changes at the drop of a hat. After battling my husband for months in court to get full custody of their daughter, his ex met a boyfriend two weeks later and moved from the county and gave him full custody, not something we expected. Worrying about who holds who's hand and where do you stand is minor, save your energy for when they yell at you that you are not their mother and if it weren't for you, their parents could get back together. (see, they don't even have to blame you for the break up, you are a reminder that the reconciliation is probably not going to happen... even if it never was anyways) When they get angry and don't want to direct it at their mom or dad (who they really are angry with) step mom/dad becomes a convenient target....See More2 car vs 3 car attached garage price
Comments (52)> Friends, I really need your help. I want to buy a car. More precisely not only myself. For the whole family. Have you considered hiring an architect? An architect can design and build a car you will love. He will interview your entire family to gather the requirements and will decide the proper car orientation. Your crazy aunt Sally wants a space on both of her sides for her favorite cats - no problem, she will love our new design. Space for your pet hamster - we will provide the wheel. 60 Gallon aquarium in the center for your pet shark - what a great idea. An architect can help you avoid costly car mistakes like: closets with no window, the gas chambers, wardrobe closet at the end of a bathroom. [Sorry could not help it] -Pizdabolka...See MoreYayagal
