Where do I stand - literally

OK so I know this seems crazy but the standing sequence is always a hassle when out with DH and the kids.

For example, this weekend we went car shopping. I wanted DH to "do all the talking" to the sales guy.

Well, as usual anytime we are out and about DH has a kid locked to each arm and I stand alone. This is always a pain because if I try to follow behind them DH constantly looks back and the kids lolly gaggle and stop at random so

I end up running into them. If I walk in front I turn around to find them 20 feet behind me.

It is always irritating but particularily on this day because the car salesmen sees two adults - DH with kids drapped on both arms - so who do you think he tries to talk to - me!

This contniues to be an issue everytime we are in public. The kids are affectionate toward me (huggs and kisses at bedtime) but they do not naturally gravitate toward me like they do their parents. When we where just dating DH was very aware and would kindly ask the kids to walk ahead so he could walk with me. I do not want to bring it up to him again because here lately he seems very stressed "trying to keep everyone happy"

I feel like I am obviously not part of the fanily to anyone who looks upon us (not that you couldn't tell anyway as I am the only brunette in a family of cornsilk blondes). But it is also an internal thing where I feel left out, like I am not a part of this family. I am just not feeling the love, ya know?

I guess I just needed to vent. Anyone else have these sort of issues?
