I do believe that dreaming about kitchens and GW members is buried somewhere in the definition of TKO.

I always get mental pictures of what people look like. I worked with a woman for a couple of years and when I met her, I had a very hard time reconciling what she really looked like with my ideas of what she looked like.

I am usually disappointed with movies made from books I've read as well.

As for people here, I have ideas of what some of them look like. Marcolo is on the list but I am not saying.

Now there's a funny thing - imagining what we all look like. When I was a child I was always disappointed when the book I was reading had an actual illustration of the characters, because that was never the image I had in my head. I vehemently objected to Judy Garland as Dorothy because Dorothy was was only 11 years old and for sure didn't have major boobs. That's also the reason I just can't get on board with the newest James Bond - he's at least 20 years too old for the (early) Bond he's playing. It's kind of like having a Juliet who's 30. Meanwhile all of us are surely young, svelte, and lovely - - except for those who are young and studly. At least in your dreams.

You actually had a dream kitchen, lucky you! I see your dream as a gold mine into your psyche, a big gift to yourself. I am way more interested in dreams than I ever could be of anyone's kitchen!

Pal, no I don't remember what you looked like. I think that I was distracted by Marcolo's appearance (the pic real-Marcolo posted is pretty close, if you took off the goggles and helmet and cleaned him up just a bit) being so counter to my real life mental picture. And the dream went of in another direction after you introduced yourself. I think the dream-you appeared more or less as expected, and therefore didn't make enough of an impression to last past waking.

Jamies, thanks for the interpretation. I was replacing the pastel pink cabs (weakness & immaturity, along with love and joy) with dark blue ones (passion & intensity, truth & wisdom). Regarding the cabinet doors...the one cabinet that I put up I think I was intending to leave open (no doors).

I should say that no matter what dream-Marcolo looked like, he spoke and behaved in a way consistent with my impression of real-Marcolo.

It may just mean that you have a little too much GW in your life? Or not enough? I had a GW dream back when we were doing the "Design Around This" exercises. I can't remember the details anymore, suppressed them no doubt!

In my warped mind, Marcolo looks like the guy from that steampunk video on Youtube (just Put Some Gears on It).

This is so funny! Just before christmas, I emailed Breezy because I had a vivid dream of her new backsplash.. All I remembered was that it was gorgeous and there were 100+ posts and it was a surprise to all of us.

I do dream about my kitchen all the time :) Mostly early morning bad dreams which jolt me awake.

I think of Marcolo as a younger George Hamilton in appearance. Suave in a martini holding silk damask drapery way. And add in a healthy dose of Oscar Wilde wit and some Harvey Levin snark. He's a Porsche guy.

Pal, I think of as Hugh Lauriesque. In looks as well as some personality traits. Everyone expects him to be a certain way and talk a certain way due to his fame, but his real life persona is quieter and artsier than his public persona. And immensely talented in many fields rather than just the one he's known publicly for. He's all about public transport.

CEFreeman I think of as a dimunutive Lucy Lawless. Incredibly fit and able, and ready to kick anyone's ass at a moment's notice. Or to lift large cabinets with a single arm. And she drives a monster truck. Which she needs a fold out ladder to get into.

Bee, I think of as a tall and willowy, but with jet black hair and almost Goth white. Sorta like Candice Olsen's dark pale twin. Gotta be a Volvo gal. But maybe the sporty sedan and not the wagon.

Isn't it strange the places your mind will go if given a chance! That's why books are always better than films. :)

No wonder my dreams are BORING! I need to keep reading on here more and focus less on work (spreadsheets and databases have been consuming my dreams, bleh, no beautiful colors, textures all that good kitchen stuff)!

Imagination is almost always better than reality, I agree lwo. The Rhett Butler of my imagination beat Clark Gable hands down.

Okay... Marcolo is tall and thin and Italian with very dark straight hair. Not sure what age, but at least 40. And very dapper.

OMG- I love all of this!

I had GW dreams a few times-- all of us discussing my kitchen and what was right/wrong with it.

It's so interesting about how we picture what people look like IRL. For some reason it has always bothered me that I don't know what all the GW members look like. So much so that I wanted to start a post where everyone post a pic of themselves. Maybe b/c it also helps me remember people when I have a real mental image in my head.
Maybe it's just proof that our society is very image based. In the beginning here It seemed I was often thinking, "Is this person a male/female? old/young?"

On Thursday, my husband just had major surgery to remove his cancerous kidney.

On Friday night, I had a dream about my frantic post on GW about how my marble countertop company installed my white marble countertop in 4, yes 4 smaller broken pieces), and one of the pieces was a completely different stone (reddish granite) with awful huge 0.5 inch seams.

When I told my husband about my dream, he responded that I was obsessed with Gardenweb and my kitchen.

I see it as that I was so relieved of the great news of my husband's successful surgery that I could go back to my "normal" way of life - to go on continuing with my TKO.

Not sure where I'm going w/ this post.
Lack of sleep (round the clock monitoring my husband's progress and reminding him to take his pills every 3 hours).

Amanda! I'm so sorry to hear about your DH! No wonder we haven't seen any posts of the new kitchen lately. Is it done? More importantly, how is DH? What's his diagnosis now? Please keep us informed so we can sandlots of prayers and positive energy your way!
