Radio antenna badly bent at car wash

I know this is going to sound really stupid but what the heck.

Being the frugal guy that I am, I normally do my own car washing at a car wash.

However, after this nasty winter we had in Boston and all the salt that
cars took, I was tempted by a local car wash. On Tuesdays they have a
$5.99 special. So I took them up on the offer today. When I got there, I
asked one of the attendants whether they also cleaned the underside of a
car. He said yes but that I would have to add 2 additional dollars. He
then said that if I was now going to pay $7.99, I might at as well bring
it up to $9.00 and also get waxing. I said no problem.

My car then went through the washing with me inside.

But when I came out of the washing, to my horror, I noticed that my
radio antenna was badly bent. I pointed this out to the attendant. He,
in turn, pointed to a small sign at the point where the car actually
enters the car wash. It said that antennas have to be pulled down. I did
not see this sign. Also, since I paid by credit card, it means that
this same entry point was where I handed the second attendant my credit
card yet he did not warn me that I needed to pull down my antenna. After
I complained to him, he said that I could return tomorrow and speak to
the manager (but I doubt he'll be able to do anything).

Anyway, when I tried to straighten the antenna half of its base cracked.
It's still hanging on but if it gets bent in the opposite direction it
will completely snap off.

A few stupid questions:

1) Can I get it welded at the base since it hasn't come off, it's just cracked?

2) Right now I have one of those long antennas. If I have to get a new
one, can I get one of those short black ones I see in newer cars?

3) If I have to get the same long metal antenna, any tips as to where I
might get a good deal? I'm planning on calling German Auto Parts
tomorrow and also checking out Amazon and eBay. But any other
suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Below is photo of my car showing the antenna and its height (photo was taken during this past crazy winter).
