California Poppies

The first bloom opened on my California poppies. The plants are huge this year. They self-seed pretty well for me.

Also, an unknown cactus is forming buds. I had gotten some babies of this and planted it outside as an experiment. It made it through this winter OK and is in a slightly sheltered spot. Can anyone identify?

Also, my gladiolus have multiplied. See all the additional blades from the bulblets?

Should be a very beautiful spring with all the rains we've had. I received a little over 1.5" this weekend which was less than the 2" of rain from last week.

What perennials are waking up for you? A few varieties of salvias and purple cone flower have decent growth already, and the flame acanthus is budding out, too. Still quite a few things that haven't woken up yet, but should soon.
