sorry the pictures don't give a true indication of this, but this is a very tall tree (as tall as the mansion it stands next to) with a very thick trunk. it is very full, so the picture makes it look like a bush, but it's not. the tree trunk is gray and thick, with grey smooth bark. when in glorious bloom, the blossoms on the tree are hot pink. so fabulous. it is a brawny tree, lush, and brimming with the pompoms. they are now past their prime and have dried to a deep rust, but, as you can imagine, when in its blooming prime, the pink is astounding (though i love the dried arrangements too!). i have included several pictures so you can see the tree in full splendor, and some close ups which might help you to identify. the leaves are large (larger than my hand) and slightly fuzzy, thick too, not delicate. any help is appreciated! i am dying to know what sort of tree this is. thank you!
