Young citrus look more like bushes- growing weird?
Comments (14)K. I cut off the sucker. It was actually part of a trunk. All the other branches looked more like suckers... Hopefully I did the right thing. It was only two little branches, so it would be weird if the other parts were the sucker I think. It would make the sucker the actual tree and that would be strange I think. Hopefully I didn't do damage :( I was able to take pictures of the other trees with my cell phone! Ok, so here we have what I am almost positive is a lemon tree: https://picasaweb.google.com/heather.leigh.green/May27201202#5747330872321811346 This is the tree that had one lemon last year, though I never tasted the fruit- but it looked like a lemon. This tree also has very bad leaf curl. Here is a pic: https://picasaweb.google.com/heather.leigh.green/May27201202#5747330975224339442 I think this was from being really thirsty last summer. I water deeply about once a week, but it doesn't seem to get much new growth and the leaves don't change. Should I do something else? Next pic: https://picasaweb.google.com/heather.leigh.green/May27201202#5747330981373239506 I don't know if this is lemon or lime and the shape of the tree is terrible. Is there anything I can do to fix it and get it to look more like a shade tree eventually? Here is a pic of it's baby fruit as well: https://picasaweb.google.com/heather.leigh.green/May27201202#5747330979421196178 Next pic: https://picasaweb.google.com/heather.leigh.green/May27201202#5747330997258299090 I don't know what this tree is. Here is the fruit pic: https://picasaweb.google.com/heather.leigh.green/May27201202#5747331006607107522 Same question about shaping the tree from above. This next tree is only about 3 feet tall, it has horrible thorns like the first tree I told you all about. I'm not sure if I should dig it up and plant shadier trees or if it's worth preserving. I love fresh fruit. https://picasaweb.google.com/heather.leigh.green/May27201202#5747331013173657138 This is another mystery citrus tree. I have ever seen fruit on it. https://picasaweb.google.com/heather.leigh.green/May27201202#5747331020964139874 Same question about the shape. Thank you for your help!!! I am very overwhelmed. I haven't even began to tell you about the ash trees and the apple tree... but this is the citrus forum :)...See MoreFavorite Weird Food Combinations?
Comments (98)I adore sharp cheddar cheese and pickle sandwiches with mayo! I didn't think that was weird? I like my bread slightly toasted too! And the more garlic in the pickle recipe, the better! I will slice the big ones and just lay them on! Would saltines loaded with cottage cheese and strawberry jam be a weird food combo? I love eating my crackers that way and often have them for dinner when it is getting late and I haven't eaten yet! And, would big thick slices of Braunschweiger and thin sliced red onion on toasted rye that has lots of butter or in case no butter, some mayo, so would that be a weird food combo? LOVE that sandwich. But, I thought it was normal. My daughter and my niece have to have malted milk balls mixed in with their hot popcorn at the movies, like in the same tub! Makes my stomach crawl and itch at the same time when they eat it.. gag....See MoreWeird food combinations
Comments (68)I never pass on a good sushi bar, I make my own ceviche but only with seafood that either we caught or that I know was freshly caught. I prefer that my oysters be just steamed enough to crack open a tiny bit, which means that they will still be raw. Again, they must be fresh from the water. My favorite appetizer is beef carpaccio, which I will often have served as an entree, after a soup and salad. (I enjoyed it earlier this week at a great restaurant in Chattanooga!) I used to like peanut butter and bacon sandwhiches, but I don't think of that as particularly wierd....See MoreWhat are the weird or just bad things u you grew up eating?
Comments (54)Anne, most of my water consumption was from the garden hose, because if I went into the house Grandma would find me a "chore" to do. I didn't go inside. We never had Kool Aid except at Bible School, that was a huge treat. We had cows so we drank milk. Period. I remember going with Mother to my uncle's gas station and splitting a bottle of Grape Nehi with my brother and sister, so that was probably 3 ounces each, LOL. Rita, I still eat baked bean sandwiches, love them. If Grandma made baked beans my breakfast was invariably baked beans spread on a slice of bread and then folded over. We didn't usually buy hot dog buns, but if we had them, I'd use that instead. I do like liver, Grandma fried it with bacon and onions, and always served with mashed potatoes, it was one of my favorite meals. Now the liver usually becomes dog treats, unfortunately. And I can my own chicken, so I always have some on hand. Annie...See Moregrainlady_ks
