Experts:How difficult is DIY application of Ardex Feather Finish?
Comments (12)UPDATE! Well...got the floor "ardexed". I am SORE. ;^) Dried out pretty well overnight...went in and hit the spots I missed this morning. Here is a picture of it just after I finished...the little bits of black are where I missed: Tomorrow I'll hit what few high/rough spots there are with some sandpaper on a sanding pole...and then I'll vacuum. Afternoon is allure laying time! I'll start a new thread once I've got it ALL down. Thanks again for your advice...it gave this 50 y/o crone the courage to try. Though...when it comes to the bigger rooms...I may hire a pro. Not sure my body will stand up to a 12' x 15' room...10' x 12' nearly killed me....See MoreLayering face products?
Comments (17)Natal - Oh, I know. IMO Photoshopping like that shouldn't even be allowed. I always say anyone can be beautiful with the help of a makeup artist, hair extensions, spray tan, fake eyelashes, airbrushing, etc. :) So far I haven't spent a bunch of money on any product in general. I know most have big price tags with empty promises. I am a sucker for infomercials though so I have to stay away. lol My last purchase years ago was the bun and thigh roller! Nuff said. The appealing thing to me was that brand isn't pricey and I've heard AHA is good for your skin and dermatolgists recommend it? Since I bought all that I'll finish using it but I guess I've always figured in my mind a little wrinkle cream or serum can't hurt. An example that comes to mind often..Poor DH doesn't have much hair left on top of his head. At one point, he was using Nioxin products. I found it interesting that they have different steps to their line. System 1 is for fine, natural, normal to thin looking hair. System 2 is for fine, natural, NOTICEABLY thinning hair. There's probably reasons but I can't wrap my head around why you wouldn't just jump to system 2 if you were having this issue. Same goes with face products. Olay has a bunch of different systems. When I considered trying some of theirs it recommended the total effects. My mind wondered why I couldn't just buy something for skin that was already wrinkled thinking it would help more. Again, that may not be the case and I haven't done any real digging around but that's how I look at it. Jen - My t zone gets pretty darn oily so I also couldn't figure out why I was always hearing moisturize. Even oil free doesn't make sense to me really. Cooper - I figured you'd get what I was saying since you're not far away. There's not that many in the state. Even the ones I was 1st hoping to get into were a good hour away. I'm honestly a little leary of putting chemicals on my face in general and I think part of me doesn't want to know what's in them. This includes sunblock even though I've been using that on my face. The food we eat, the air we breathe.. I know that was windy but I'm feeling blabbery tonight. I really should be wrapping presents!...See MoreIn a pickle
Comments (30)Just wanted to stop in and say this seems to be the norm as opposed to the exception - at least in our experience. We're still framing but the framers have - on their own - moved things around slightly even at this stage. For example, all of our windows and doors on the front of the house have matching header heights to create an even sightline across the front elevation. We have some really tall windows on the front though, so the framers decided to mess with the header heights a bit to keep the bottom of the windows from being "too close to the floor" in their estimation. They are now correcting them. It's bizarre to me that tradesmen would do this rather than just pick up the phone and ask. "This window is really tall and is going to be 6" from the floor - are you okay with that?" Yes, that's why the plans specified that header height. Nearly *all* of our current issues could have been avoided by simple communication. It's not just a problem in construction though. At my job I lead a team that is tasked with improving communication throughout the company. We represent all departments and hitch our horses to various issues that previously seemed to "wilt on the vine" before completion - we pick up where others left off and drag them to the finish line. It's amazing what some simple, clear communication can accomplish....See MoreThe inactivity on Gardenweb
Comments (66)Could less people who would normally be posting questions, have been out buying plants, sheltering at home? Or maybe too busy with kids home schooling with the schools shut, and maybe trying to remotely work from home at the same time? Maybe some lost their jobs because of the virus and can’t afford landscaping or new plants etc....See Moresocks
