Scratch-off lottery tickets, key ring, soup or cookie fixings in a mason jar are just a few ideas that spring to mind.

I would go nostalgic all the way with their favorite candies. But this is coming from someone who still has her 50+ year old basket. It looked so much bigger then.

My kids' "baskets" are actually plastic buckets that we use every year. They get stashed in the attic for the other 364 days of the year.

I will be mailing treats to one kid who is in college, so no bucket for him this year! Sniff. First holiday without all my kiddos present. Fortunately, Easter isn't really a major holiday for us...other than, you know, filling the buckets!

I agree it gets tough. I like to use the same "map" as their Christmas stockings, a bit of a treat--but not too much sugar--something fun to do like a small puzzle, put together toy -with an Easter theme--something to read--something practical but FUN like a silly kitchen gadget. I try to blurr the lines between adulthood and childhood. CD's and DVD's are always hits...

arcy - I like that idea of following their Christmas stockings. My kids are early twenties and are getting harder to do Easter baskets. I still fill the same baskets from when they were little and then store them for the rest of the year. Now, I have a plan.

For my college kid, plastic eggs filled with quarters for laundry! And candy :) The high schooler gets chocolate, which goes in his lunchbox for the rest of the year.

You're not the only one Sue! I don't do an easter basket, but I always buy my hubby some kind of easter treat! LOL Easter is a big holiday for us. Besides the religious meaning, it's always been a big family holiday. I will be hosting Easter dinner.

May, I still have my Easter Basket too. It is a miniature version of my DM's market basket. When we went to market she carried her big basket and I carried my small one. I just thought I was the cat's pajamas.

I don't do Easter baskets for my grown children (my youngest will be 32 this year) but I bought the cutest EB from WS for my grandchildren this year. I do Christmas bags for my children and their spouses at Christmas and I do many personal care items. For my DDs and DDIL I do Bath & Body shower gels and pretty scrubbies, mascaras, lip sticks and glosses, favorite snack foods, and candies. For my son and DSILs I do lottery tickets, coffee, razor blades, favorite snack foods. I also like to give iTunes and other gift cards.

Mom still got me my favorite candies. It never got old.

a new Frisbee might be nice for at least your college boy! ultimate f is big for a lot of guys and this time of year they're always itching for spring! tennis balls, golf balls, bike gear, swim goggles, or accessories for whatever they're into outdoors always make nice additional basket fillers!!

The one I make is a hers and his for my dd and her husband. Chocolate rabbits, jelly beans, holiday socks for her and a funky tie for him, cds, gift cards for a movie and lunch, crackers and cheese, a couple of mini bottles of wine, favorite fruits, lip gloss for her, chap stick for him and any other odds and ends I can come up with.

Cash. My boys don't want any candy.

My big girls are always hitting me up for expensive tooth whitening strips. For Christmas and Easter I buy a pack and split them between the stockings or baskets.

Isn't it interesting how different we can be? I have never understood how Easter became a mini gifting holiday of non-"Easter" items, as in my own childhood, and then my children's, Easter experiences revolved around decorated eggs, chocolate, bunnies and other Easter holiday-related themes. So when the kids got too old, it ended as far as personal baskets. I still love to put out a few of the same decorations every year, including a centerpiece basket of chocolate foil wrapped eggs.

Kids are grown...one son is married, other son and his GF are vegan, DD lives in another state so it has become more difficult. Plus I am sidelined with a bad knee so can't really go out and spend time shopping. Think I will have DH pick up small gift cards and call it a day this year.

As they were growing up we did the typical candy basket with maybe some small games or toys and a book or DVD.

When I and my siblings got too old for Easter baskets, mom would do a big platter of goodies....a big chocolate egg in the center with all our favorites surrounding it and we all would just help ourselves for a few days.

When our kids were, DS 17 and DD 14, We took Easter to their grandparents and I brought along Easter baskets with candy for kids and grandparents. I also 'made' my kids do an Easter egg hunt with the plastic eggs filled with money. Some had a quarter or two some a dollar some 5$ bills but two had 20$. In order to get these teens scrambling around their Gparents lawn I had to shake the coin filled eggs and tell them some eggs didn't shake but still had some worthwhile item inside. OMG they loved it. Found all of them. Gparents cracking up at this display of goofiness between brother and sister.

The next few years they asked about the Easter egg hunt well before and we had mini ones in the house. But never one on the lawn again, we didn't have Gparents to watch.

We did a few baskets later and I gave them eggs filled with some $. Now I just do a family Easter candy basket as we don't do much candy any more and the $ get doled out at Christmas only. DS is not even at home and DD is still in college.

Gramarows, I'm with you, it's about the candy and the fun (well, no, it isn't, but the baskets and hunting are). When my older was 6 and his brother was 1+, the loose candy couldn't be chocolate eggs, so it was Froot Loops. (The diapers were a technicolor extravaganza for days). But now quarters are jingly and useful lol. And of course, chocolate. DS says to go for quantity, not quality, but I strive for both. (Learned my lesson, that Bahmer stuff is awful). Going to add back in the peeps this year, never thought of using them for s'mores! (Mom called them "angels on horseback")

these days, I concentrate on food. Specifically, brunch, and more specifically, deviled eggs (usually done as "green eggs and ham" for Easter) which are perpetually requested. I hit DD and family up with a "catered" breakfast before they progress through the rounds of the other grandparents (at least 3 other family appearances) later in the day. I figure they get enough candy and stuff from everyone else.

Other DD is out of town and doesn't celebrate Easter. So nada for them.
