Would love your input for stair/deck remodel on midcentury home!

As you can see, we inherited an interesting staircase when we purchased our house last year. (Sorry if photos are flipped!) these stairs are very visible from the inside and outside of the house. Some background: stairs lead up to the pool, so we'd like the staircase to be as non-slippery as possible and also provide a place to sit if we have a party. We plan on tearing out most of this area and starting from scratch this Spring/summer. The wood stairs are rotten/painted brown and chipping, and the red brick pavers are not our/our house's style. We'd like to replace it with a composite (thinking fiberon but open to others) decking with built-in planters and seating. Have also considered concrete. Below are some options we're thinking about. Thinking wood-look darker (I know heat is an issue) and modern/clean lines. The house will be painted a medium tone gray this Spring as well.

Would love your input or other ideas we might not have considered. We live in in southern Michigan if that helps. Thank you!
