Stick Vacuum Recommendations?

I'm thinking of getting a stick vacuum for quick touchups between regular vacuuming. I mainly want to use it in the kitchen for the crumbs and cat food that inevitably get on the floor and to sweep up kitty litter that gets tracked from the box. I don't have a budget in mind. I don't want something terribly expensive, but I'd rather pay a bit more if necessary to get something that will do what I need.

I really like this one. I use it on my hardwood floors and it's great for pet hair and crumbs. The shape of it does corners, edges and around furniture legs really well. And it's only $50 and has many great reviews.

We have purchased 4 stick vacuums in the last two years. There really isn't a great one, but we finally found one that we are satisfied with. Last month we purchased the Eureka Easy Clean 2 in 1 Lightweight Vacuum 169B. We paid $32.99 for it on Amazon, and later I found the same model at WalMart for half that price, although I just now checked and WalMart now wants $44 for it.

So many of the stick vacuums just throw crumbs (and cat litter) around on a hardwood or linoleum floor, but this one doesn't. It also has a roller that can be turned off if you wish. Also converts to a handheld mini-vac.

Yikes, I'm just seeing this! I bought my Linx in early August and I love it. I can vacuum for about 30 minutes with it before it needs to recharge. I only have the one battery, but think Maire Cate's suggestion of a spare one is good. We have brick floors throughout the house with many Oriental rugs. I also have two dogs that shed. I love how easy it is to do quick clean ups. The only downside I can think of is that the canister fills up pretty quickly and needs to be emptied after every 30 minutes or so of vacuuming. But, emptying the Linx is very quick and easy. I also like that it stands on it's own. Oh, and it's not very loud . . . although it's not very quiet either. For Christmas I received the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser hand vac to use on my sofas and chairs. We don't allow our Dobie on the furniture, but our 12-lb Tibetan Spaniel, who sheds a lot makes this hand vac worth it's weight in gold! It got great reviews online and I'm very happy with mine. I also own the Shark Portable Steamer, which I really like. It's good for cleaning away water deposits on the guest room glass shower door and it's tracks, etc. I use it on our luggage before I bring it inside after a trip, to kill any possible bedbugs. I bought it after I did bring bedbugs home a couple of years ago from either the airlines or limousine. This Christmas it came in handy steaming the wrinkles out of my 120" tablecloth. I would LOVE to buy a steam cleaner for my brick floors, but I'm not sure that there's one out there that cleans brick floors. These floors would chew up most fabric covers on those I've seen. Lynn

I would use all three named. I have 3 Roombas, love them. They travel throughout the house almost daily. They do a decent job of getting dirt and dog fur off hard floors. I have tile and wood. I also have a Shark Navigator rechargeable which I use whenever I have crumbs in the kitchen or dining area. It has a button for rugs and it does a good job on area rugs. I also have a Panasonic canister which I use on rugs. It has a special motorized head for rugs and has heppa bags. Love it and does a great job. It has the tools to do furniture, drapes, etc. I think it cost $129.00 The Roombas have been bought over many years. Two are quite old but still work well. Love, love them! The other two were bought on Amazon at decent prices. I would never use one vacuum for the whole house. You don't need to spend a fortune on one vacuum. At one time I had three Dysons which I hated. Is the Hoover Linx the best stick vacuum?

I read lots of reviews on the Linx and everyone has problems with the short battery life. I ended up finding the LInx in a corded version, for an awesome price, and ordered that. The corded version is about $79. As much as I wanted cordless, I don't want to deal with a short battery life and the cost of extra batteries.

Above budget but I just paid about $425 with tax for cordless V8 Absolute from Dyson. I wanted a cordless handheld to clean the car and then I found out that you can attach the stick to the cordless with Dyson and voila I can clean all my floors in the house in addition to using it as a handheld. We have a Dyson Animal (for about 8-9 years that works fine) and I am seriously thinking of putting it in storage as the cordless is amazing. Life changer. I was sweeping our luxury vinyl plank every night but now I just do a "sweep" with the Dyson and it picks up way more than I ever could have imagined. I hesitated at the price but so worth it in my opinion.....

If you consider the Shark Rocket a stick vacuum then I would recommend it...I have one as well as a Lift Away from Bed Bath & Beyond...

I love my little Bissell stick vac - $20 at Walmart! http://www.bissell.com/3-in-1-vac/

It weighs 3 pounds, converts to a hand vac, and works great. I mostly use it for quick pick-ups on the hardwood floors, but it also works on the carpet. DH laughs whenever I use it--he says he spent a fortune buying super-duper vacs for each level of the house, but the $20 stick vac gets more use than the others put together.

You can go super-cheap on the Dirt Devil from Target. It's basically a "dust buster" on a stick. I have it, and it's ok.

I'm with wanda va . I have a Bissell just like hers and love it. I use it for kitty litter and kitchen crumbs. I am constantly amazed what it picks up.

I have the little cheap one from Walmart and I like it just fine, only issue is the cord is very short and I don't have a lot of plugs. I use it for my kitchen only, it's very handy. It's a Eureka brand but looks like that Bissel pretty much.

We tried the Dirt Devil and it pushed small bits of cat food around. Traded it for the Bissell and it has proven itself worthy of $20.
