Recommendations for a Lightweight Stick-type Vacuum???
Comments (32)Yikes, I'm just seeing this! I bought my Linx in early August and I love it. I can vacuum for about 30 minutes with it before it needs to recharge. I only have the one battery, but think Maire Cate's suggestion of a spare one is good. We have brick floors throughout the house with many Oriental rugs. I also have two dogs that shed. I love how easy it is to do quick clean ups. The only downside I can think of is that the canister fills up pretty quickly and needs to be emptied after every 30 minutes or so of vacuuming. But, emptying the Linx is very quick and easy. I also like that it stands on it's own. Oh, and it's not very loud . . . although it's not very quiet either. For Christmas I received the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser hand vac to use on my sofas and chairs. We don't allow our Dobie on the furniture, but our 12-lb Tibetan Spaniel, who sheds a lot makes this hand vac worth it's weight in gold! It got great reviews online and I'm very happy with mine. I also own the Shark Portable Steamer, which I really like. It's good for cleaning away water deposits on the guest room glass shower door and it's tracks, etc. I use it on our luggage before I bring it inside after a trip, to kill any possible bedbugs. I bought it after I did bring bedbugs home a couple of years ago from either the airlines or limousine. This Christmas it came in handy steaming the wrinkles out of my 120" tablecloth. I would LOVE to buy a steam cleaner for my brick floors, but I'm not sure that there's one out there that cleans brick floors. These floors would chew up most fabric covers on those I've seen. Comments (6)Had a Hoover Linx. Didn't realize how poor the filtration was until one day when I turned it on in a beam of sunlight and was shocked at what blew out of it. I emptied the cup and cleaned the filter on a weekly basis. It's now relegated to the garden shed. Bought a Riccar cordless for the house. Love it! Powerful, great filtration, massive bag, long battery life and quick recharge. Has a headlight that's perfect for early morning scattered litter cleanup. I have a Sebo canister for whole house vacuuming, but the Riccar is used on a daily basis in other parts of the house. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FH1c1N11lpE...See MoreRechargeable cordless stick vac - do you have one you recommend
Comments (20)Since I have cats again, and need to keep floors cleaner between housekeeping visits, I ended up getting a Dyson V7 earlier this summer, which I really like. It took me a while to talk myself into spending that much, but I did get it on sale and it was only about $50 more than the Shark I was considering. After getting it, I've discovered that I really enjoy using it. It is much quieter than I expected, and I have yet to run out of battery using it, but I only do one room at a time....See MoreInexpensive Cordless Stick Vacuum?
Comments (23)Thanks Kathy, I looked into the dirt devil one like yours and they change the design around 2016 2017. Now there are a lot of complaints about a broken latch. Lotta bad reviews. I also have an anaconda. Usually we just take a short broom and dust pan and sweep. If we are really lazy or busy we can just sweep and tuck the debris under the cove (the kick area). If I’m sewing I usually just sweep up the debris with my hand and toss it into a trash can in the kitchen. I have one of those magnets on a stick for picking up pins off the floor, or even on the table. That Dyson electric that somebody just pointed out looks neat. I watched a video of it on the manufactures site. But the weight of something like that would not be fun. And it’s only about $700. I once had one of those Dustbuster things, but it didn’t really pick up flour off the floor. It didn’t have much suction, and then I think there was a black and decker gizmo. And I’ve had it was black and decker. Also don’t like the idea of the batteries failing and then they’ve got out of manufacture so you spent money on a piece of equipment and you can’t use it for lack of finding a battery that works with it. On the other hand I don’t like chords. I also don’t like having to store anything. Nor do I want it lying around if I don’t store it. My next house is going to have an entire whole house vac that is installed along the perimeter of each room. You can turn it to always sucking mode, super powerful flash mode, or just turn it on to normal use as needed. The super sucker flash mode will pick up anything from socks children’s toys, tools or chicken bones. (The super sucker flash mode will also haul late sleepers out of bed and oust guests that stay too long.) scuse typos...See More3katz4me
