cat pee ruined my couch
Comments (8)There is also a Nature's Miracle For Cats...I haven't done the research to see how (or even if) it differs from the regular NM (though I do think it's a bit more effective than the the regular NM) but otherwise I have experience with this problem (sofa cushions.) If you want the easiest fix, buy a new sofa. ;~) However, you might try: taking the cushion covers off and (IF they are colorfast, test first to be sure) soak them in Nature's Miracle for a day or so(or wash them several times if they are washable.) Then for the cushion "innards" (the foam and whatever the foam is wrapped in)...try soaking the whole thing or at least the end that has cat pee on it in Nature's Miracle submerged in something like an ice chest. Leave it for a day or so, and then let it dry outside in the sun until it's good and dry (several days.) If the cat pee ran down into cracks between cushions and got the flat "floor" of the sofa (under the cushions, over the springs) smelly, soak that area really well with NM in a spray bottle and then cover it with something like a plastic garbage bag for a couple of days. Part of the trick to NM working is to keep the area wet for a while to give it time to work. If you feel the cushion covers have gotten clean (like maybe they are washable) but the cushion innards still bother you, you could also put the foam cushions into a big garbage bag and then put it back inside the cushion covers.) I saved a very expensive leather sofa this way some years back...yes, it was some trouble for a few days but I found that the navy blue leather didn't get the color ruined by soaking the cushion covers in Nature's Miracle so it was worth the trouble....about $75 to $100 worth of Nature's Miracle all told vs. about $3000 for a new sofa....See MoreH & M Sofa -- Standard Foam, Ultra-down OR Spring Down Cushions??
Comments (25)How does Thomasville's "Benjamin" sofa compare to the Handcock and Moore Sofa? Has anyone had any personal experience with how the "Benjamin" sofa holds up? I am looking at it in "double fudge" leather, which is a semi-aniline leather with a mottled finish. I am wondering how the leather will look in a few years. Currently, I am looking for a nice family room leather furniture set that is very comfortable. What kind of spring system does the Handcock and Moore sofa have? I have 8 way hand tied springs on my living room sofa, and they are very comfortable. Thomasville's sofa has a sinuous spring. Will it be comfortable and hold up well long term? Also, will the piping around edges on the top and the bottom of the cushions on the "Benjamin" sofa hold up long term and be comfortable? Is there a Hancock and Moore or other sofa that is similar to the "Benjamin" Sofa color and style wise? Thomasville's "Benjamin" sofa has piping around the seat cushions. I have heard that that wears through quickly? Is that correct even with a good quality leather? Does anyone know anything about "USA Leather" sofas that have individual pocketed coils in the seat cushions and have a down topper pocket sewn in the top of the cushion on the inside. I think that the pocketed coils sit more firm, which I don't like, generally like foam core cushions, but don't like the way the leather looks stretched out on foam cushions. Is there a way to prevent this in foam core cushions? Also, I would like to re-direct my current sofa to another room in our home. The leather is faded but not worn through. Is there a way to dye the leather back to it's original color again. It was not a very expensive sofa and was made by Leather Trends/Leather Mart. It did not have piping, and the edges have held up very well. It is just the color of the leather--fading issue that is the problem. The color is "picasso brandy," which is kind of a browned burgundy. Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I can do to make my sofa set look a little better color wise?...See MoreHelp me not go overboard: whorehouse version
Comments (99)Kitchen detective. That one didn't wow me but it got me to that site and I found something else I love ( of course) so thank you. What do we think of it or have I just really lost my grip. I was thinking for a wingchair. I know it doesn't go with some of the other things I've picked but it could work with the sofa fabric (solid blue green velvet) and the rug. Maybe sorta kinda. It would cause me to ixnay the elephantay but so be it. I already am getting elephant pillows with the fabric deedee posted. One of the paisley sis already on the trash heap. I can stand to cast off another beloved and live to tell the tail. I suppose....See MoreCouch brands...Smith bros vs Decor rest vs Best vs Leather Italia
Comments (13)I would rather read reviews for the three companies to see how their furniture has held up. Of the three, Smith Brothers would be my choice based on what I have read about them over the years. Reviews for Decor-Rest See this chart for 'lower middle quality' Leather Italia Also this Furniture Forum post for Leather Italia Here is an older post on Smith Brothers from Garden Web - HERE.
