Mostly leftovers. Very few dishes to wash up afterwards, so just about ideal.
Supposed to get below zero here in my part of Ohio tonight. It could break a record that was set in late 1800s.

I have some pork chops roasting in the oven with some sliced onions and I have a dish of beautiful big fresh garden carrots also roasting in the oven. These carrots were so nice and very sweet they were from the Mexican market which has some pretty produce. It's smelling great. Hopefully I can eat tonight I have been having a tummy problem.

Tossed salad with poached salmon, with a sprinkle of cheese and a nice glass of chardonnay.

H ad lunch out today. Piece of toast and cup of tea.

Our city was pretty much closed down due to bad ice conditions, cold and dreary all day. Robert was stuck home all day and a little antsy, lol.

Seemed like a good afternoon to start a pot of chicken vegetable rice soup and it was perfect. Robert made a small batch of biscuits to go with his servings.

Made my favorite -- I was baking and cooking most of the day! sauerbraten w/ noodles & gravy, German potato salad, red cabbage, and pumpernickel bread. yum!

Ooooooh Party! Sounds delish. Me? I made a french bread pizza outta stuff on hand. Gobbled it down.

A niece and her husband who are traveling across country stopped here yesterday. Their original plan was to stay the night, and continue on towards Vermont this morning. Mother Nature changed those plans. They spent the day here, we played games and even tried the sled on the neighbor's hill. Dinner was broiled teriyaki-ginger salmon, steamed broccoli, and asian noodles, plus a salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

Mm, teriyaki-ginger salmon sounds good! I'll have to try that. We made roasted carrot-tomato soup; I got to use my new Vitamix to blend it up! So much better than my blender. Salad and broiled cheese toast to go with it.

Last night was French Dips, pasta and shrimp salad, a fruit salad.

We had 'goulash', as I call it - hamburger meat with noodles, tomato sauce, corn, garlic, onion and bell peppers. Only I used tomato juice instead of tomato sauce this time. My husband was at our local corner store/ cafe recently, when an employee that we know was draining a BIG can of tomatoes. She asked if we wanted the juice, since they only used the tomatoes. So he brought it home and I bagged it and froze the bags. We used the last one in the goulash. :)

The salmon is one of my favorite recipes, and it is really quite simple. You take a jar of crushed ginger and a bottle of teriyaki sauce, and make a 50/50 mixture. Slather the fillet with the mixture, and broil it in a preheated oven at 425 deg F for 8 to 10 minutes (depending on the thickness)
