I did it quickly and saw 40, but then I realized I was counting bars, not colors. Of course if I saw them as distinct bars, why was that? I went back again and maybe it is 32 colors?

Mtn some people in comments claimed that due to compression artifacts in the JPEG there are actually little darker or lighter delineation lines between some of the bars which gives us a way to "cheat" ...I think that might have happened to me.

I do very well on the Munsell but not 100%. I'm getting a new monitor at work - I might try it after that!

pal I think I might be with you...even things I thought bothered me about my reno (grout slightly too taupey) really didn't after six months. I can't believe how long I agonized over my bathroom floor tile (too warm!), to the extent of buying what turned out to be the exact same floor tile off O.co in the hopes it would be a cooler white, and now I could not possibly care less about how much it 'clashes' with my fixtures.

I'm evidently having a good morning--39 hues counted, but I think that might be 38, because I saw a line between two bars on the red end. Yes, I also read it's not an accurate test of tetrachromacy. And btw, I like yellow.

My score on the Munsell Hue test was 3--my all time best, but I took my time, tilted the screen, rearranged a few tiles. I think I've scored 13 once before, when I wasn't so engaged.

I do feel better, because I was doubting my ability to see the blue hues, all due to the dress issue.

I definitely pick up interference lines between the bands, but I often tend to pick up similar bands between the interface of two distinct colors, especially in oriental-style rugs. I often feel like a see a "third color" in between the other two that really isn't there, and I don't think that everybody sees this. I've tried to describe it to people and they don't seem to get it. But I also taste and smell a couple of colors and a couple colors make me salivate, so I have a little bit of sensory crossover going on.

Radiolab did a cool show about color some time back & there was a segment about people who can perceive more colors than the rest of us - the most fascinating thing, tho, was about the color blue...

RadioLab: Colors

I find this interesting. I forced myself to listen to the RadioLab spot, up to the part about Susan, the possible tetrachromatic, even though it was difficult. The first 20 minutes sounded like a bunch of teenagers trying to be funny, talking over each other. Does that say something about one of my other senses? Or, just my age?

Anyway, I went back to check the color chart in the first link. The solid bands, below, are on the bars where I see only one color for both bars--they just appear to be wider bars, total of 5. The 2 boxes are on the bars where I see the same color on both bars, but I can still discern the line separating the bars. Now I'm counting 37.

Very interesting. I see each narrow bar, until I get to the green and yellow sections, and there I see wider bars at the left side where the color begins. I guess that means I don't distinguish those as well. Weird!

I saw 36 colours...but I guessed gold and light blue for the dress:)

This stuff fascinates me...wonder what's out there that I'm not seeing!
