Is there an imported chinese cabinet that is acceptable?
Comments (63)See if there's a J&K dealer near you. They are what they are. This one is a bit better quality cheap chinese cabinet brand. Plywood, soft close all. RTA or assembled. But the one thing you must remember is their cabinets are full overlay with very little room for error. Once had an over the range microwave that had bowed sides a bit and when you would open the cabinet doors, they would rub the microwave. These are so full overlay, they're practically like frameless. No room for error. I now design w/ doors opening AWAY from appliances, tall cabinets, walls..or else use fillers to prevent rubbing. My installers have been with me for 35 years and they were impressed with the quality of J&K. Downsides? Limited SKU's and sizes, only give you 24 hours to report concealed damage and the extreme full overlay design. If you're ok with that....then this brand can work well with people on a budget....See MoreJSI Cabinets (Looking for affordable, White, non-particle board)
Comments (40)All the JSI RTA Cabinets I put in had "Made in Vietnam" stickers. This was late 2020. Two doors were warped and two doors of a mismatched chamfer, but Walcraft is great at sending replacements. I have issues with their assembly style, (you have to get your angle bracket screws dead centered with no pre-drill to keep them square) most seemed to be decent quality, but a bit of slop in the tolerances took a bit of extra finagling to assemble a few of the cabinets properly. PS - love the ~1/2" plywood backs, made it easy to put way too many screws into the studs!...See MoreHas anyone bought cabinets off Ebay - NEW
Comments (41)The JSI factory is in Fall River MA. The address is: 485 Commerce Drive, Fall River, MA 02720 All of the displays are there and the cabinets are really lovely. However, they don't have full-extension drawers and only self-close not soft close. The drawers close hard/load. I was working with Stacey at Woodlist.com. He got me an appointment to see them. Their site also has a good list of the cabinets and trims available with sketches. The price point is higher than Nieghbors, but Stacey said that was flexible. Their link is below. I also went and saw the Kabinart cabinets that are available from mfkusa.com. They are great! There are lots of choices in doors, colors, cabinets and trim. The construction is top notch. The price is comparable to the JSI line. Has any one used the Kraftmaid cabinet buyer that goes to the warehouse for you? Comments (51)I am a cabinet dealer in Raleigh, North Carolina. I mostly sell KCD (River Run and Carriage House are the same cabinets) and Fabuwood RTA cabinets. I have used both for about 5 years. I have been very pleased with both lines. The KCD line is less expensive than Fabuwood by quite a bit. The only real difference that I see in them are the pullouts (also a huge difference in price). Both lines are easy to assemble and both lines have a video to show you how to assemble them. I have never had a customer tell me that my quote was more expensive than any line of cabinets at big box stores. One thing that helps out a little on that though is that most of my customers can pick them up or have them delivered from the warehouse (located in Raleigh, NC). Shipping is fairly inexpensive as well (usually round $350). Of course that depends on how many cabinets, and where they are being shipped to. It is also more expensive to ship pantry and oven cabinets (requires a double pallet). Both lines are full overlay but, they do not have center styles so when you order a 42" cabinet, you get a 39" opening. KCD currently has 9 cabinets (two are furniture board) and will be adding more over the next few months. The next one to be added will be a white painted Shaker (very white....beautiful). It will be fully stocked by mid February....See MoreRelated Professionals
