Anyone bought plumeria from bkinterplants on Ebay?
Comments (28)Virgo, I love your Varigated Ploy Chum Phu!! Looks like its doing well and it certainly is a Varigated... :-) Some friends have talked about Bkinterpants and they have had some good and some so-so experiences. I haven't bought anything from them, but I do hear some say they are alright. I also have some trees purchased from dealers here in the U.S. that have bought from Thai dealers. They come grafted and with very dry roots. I hold my breath when I get them started and potted up but I also treat them like they are cuttings and give them the same care to get those roots/ new roots growing. I also have purchased from BBB and have had good experiences with him as well.. Kukaits trees are simply beautiful!! Congratulations on your Marble Ice Cream!! I'm sure you are thrilled about that one ! I have a Thai Variegated Ametrine that I'm in the process of getting started and I have a few Maya's from a friend who purchased them from a Thai dealer. Good luck with your other trees! I'm sure you will be pleased!! Take care, Laura...See MoreHas anyone bought a car on Ebay?
Comments (19)Yes, Carfax is accurate and reputable as a source of information that could appear on records associated with a car's title and registration history. A clean Carfax report does not in itself indicate a good car, of course, but it gives you information that's valuable, such as how many owners the car has had, whether it's been in serious accidents, where it's been, etc. It can also help you verify the accuracy of the mileage. Carfax would not usually indicate mechanical problems, of course. Carchex, which is the site you referenced, is a chain that provides 155-point vehicle inspections. You can get a Carfax report through them. I do not have any experience with them, but have no reason to believe they would not do a good job. Other reputable local mechanics would probably also be fine as a way to have a car inspected. Two suggestions for decent low-cost cars that are available with manual transmissions are a Hyundai Accent or a Chevy Cavalier. The Accent is said by Edmunds to have a current retail value of about $3,900 for a 2003, which is pretty reasonable for a car that's only five years old. To get a Cavalier for $4,000 you'd probably have to get a 2002, but that's still not too bad. They're both very serviceable little cars. Cavaliers are probably more common in most areas, so parts may be cheaper and more widely available. Values should be dropping, too, because Chevy replaced it with the Cobalt a few years back. (There are millions out there, so getting parts will never be a problem for as long as you care to keep one.) The Accent might be easier to find with a manual transmission; most Cavaliers seem to have 4-speed automatics....See MoreHas anyone bought a range hood on eBay?
Comments (7)I'm too much of a range hood neophyte to comment on the item you're looking at (also, the brand name didn't show up on the link for me), BUT..back in my lurking days, I saw a spectacular DIY renovation that included a 48" Independent Bonanza range hood purchased on ebay. The OP (zipdee) mentions it in her first response to all the compliments, way down the page. She says she's really pleased with the looks AND the performance of the hood. Of course, I don't know what kind of power her range puts out compared to yours (hers is a refurbished vintage Tappan, I think), but you could always ask...? Also, I would think the fact that she's such a skilled DIY-er would make her more adventurous with appliance purchases than I could ever be... Here is a link that might be useful: hood purchased on ebay...See MoreWorld's Worst Cabinets?- your opinion, pics - long
Comments (24)I bought cabinets from this same guy and you are not imagining it, these are poor quality. I had many of the same issues plus I had damage to the finish. I brought out a custom cabinet builder/refinisher to see if they were repairable and his professional opinion is that the cabinets have been exposed to too many variables in humidity that is why there is so much bowing, shrinking, warping, separating, etc. In my case the finish actually bled onto the styrofoam packaging material leaving marks all over the finish. The replacements they sent had the same problems so I asked for a refund and told them to come get their cabinets. Like you I had assembled the cabinets that weren't damaged on the promise that the damaged ones would be replaced. Mind you it took 2 months to get replacements and they were no better. I also want to note that my phone calls and emails were not returned during the 2 months we were waiting on replacement cabinets. Because I am out of state and these items were being shipped I initially ordered one cabinet which my husband now refers to as the "bait cabinet" it was very nice unlike the majority of the other cabinets I later received. I did file a chargeback with my credit card company and Ben fought me every step of the way, even blatantly lied. Fortunately, I smelled a rat early on and saved every email and kept note of every unreturned phone call. I too filed with the bbb, I am the "refusing to adjust" complaint. Ultimately, I won my dispute but not without harrassment. The cabinets sat in our garage for a year waiting to be picked up and I finally donated them to a womens shelter. You may want to run his name through California state contractor license board- search by personnel- you may be surprised by what you find. It may also help to know that KitchenPros is also Lido Kitchens or something like that and Westlake Construction, might want to look up those names too. Good luck, I feel for you. The lesson I learned " if it seems to good to be true, it is" I now have pinnacle RTA which I purchased through a local hardware store and I love them!!...See MoreRelated Professionals
