'I'm Melting' Snowman Table
Comments (11)Thanks for all of the compliments!! Also....thanks for being impressed by my carrot, but did you read it was "styrofoam?" Not too difficult to shape, other than static cling with all the little pieces, LOL I did know better than to use spray paint after the warnings on here!! Karen, we tried to play golf in Sedona after Christmas, but the snowstorm decided to visit the same time as we did, : ( We actually have had very little snow in Denver, just enough to keep the courses closed. Then it melts and the weather looks good, and whamo, another couple of inches! It is supposed to be back in the 50's tomorrow and Thurs., so maybe this weekend..... The mountains are a different story, they have had several feet of snow this winter!! Great for skiing, but I would rather play golf. It was a fun table to create. I have been planning it since I found the snowman mugs and the hat. I am using my wedding china more now for tablescapes, than when I was actually eating off of it!! Glad you enjoyed it. Comments (6)I love your blog!! And we have a lot in common - you know with the grandkids, I have a set of identical twin grandsons and we live in the south. Since the grandkids live within 12 miles of us they always come over to decorate the tree. It looks a little funny when the lights are off but it doesn't matter - I so enjoyed having them help that I don't mind all the extra things they put on it (dolls, teddy bears, trucks, Power Rangers). They are so proud that they are putting something on that belongs to them. I love your bows and especially the snowman card. You are very talented! BTW, would you mind telling me how you were able to get the Playlist on your blog? I have tried but each time it won't accept the URL. Thanks so much, B...See MoreOk, so maybe I'll paint the plaster afterall.
Comments (12)I just shared all of these pics over on the Old House forum and I thought I'd post them here too since I have a thread going on each on the topic of my plaster. Here is a pic of one of the larger cracks we have that I suspect may need some TLC: And here is a pic of a tiny hairline crack that I suspect paint may fill in (there are a few of these): I was sharing on the forum how we painted some plaster upstairs years ago. It was old horsehair plaster. What I didn't like about it was the nail holes we repaired "flash" at you under the paint (because we failed to make any effort to blend them in better somehow) Area without nail holes (came out nicely): Area with nail holes repaired (did not like how this came out): In hindsight, I wish we would have done something to pull all the texture together and make it look uniform. (we will redo this room eventually, knowing better this time around) I think the results of that red paint is one of the things that made me not want to attempt painting our plaster again. So if we attempt to paint in our FR, I would like to add texture to the plaster first. Here is a broader pic of one of the corners in our room with some nail holes delicately repaired: I have made a complete 360 with my plans in this room, haven't I?? From wallpaper, dead set against paint - to now wanting to paint. So with all this said... Any comments? What can we do to make this plaster look more uniform in texture, but not too gooped up?...See Moresnowman shutter
Comments (16)Luthien, We never used to have any problem with clicking on the pictures and having them enlarge. This just started happening around Halloween when they made changes and added all the fancy backgrounds. I managed to get an email addy for their support staff and wrote them about how aggravating this problem is. I've never had to worry about resizing with Photobucket. Just transfer from my own computer to Photobucket and use the "generate url and html" button at the bottom of the page. It does it all for me. My Flicker account notified me that my "free" time is nearly up, and there will now be a fee. I don't want to pay a fee, that's why I'm still tolerating Photobucket. I'll let you all know if I hear anything back from them. Luvs...See MoreOklaMoni
