'I'm Melting' Snowman Table

I created this table in the dining room using an heirloom tablecloth, my 40 yr old wedding china, crystal goblets from the 80's, Damask Rose silverware, and TS snowman mugs.

I wanted to make it look like my snowman centerpiece was melting.

The top hat came from Sal. Army last fall, scarf from DT, and twigs from the back yard. The silver trees were clearance after the holidays several yrs ago, and the large silver candlesticks are TS, the shorter silver candlesticks are decades old. The black candles were TS last fall. The buttons were from my button box.

The snowmen on the chandy were from DT last fall. I originally used them as chair decor for my church luncheon where I decorate a table.

I couldn't find a faux carrot I liked so I carved one out of styrofoam, and painted it with craft paint.

The sugar and creamer were a TS find last fall.

The silver placemats were clearance at HG after the holidays 2009. Same for the DT snowflakes. I layered blck and white napkins and used plain silver napkin rings.

The icicles are several years old.

All the snowflakes were clearance items.

Maybe it is wishful thinking because I would like all the snow to melt so I could get out on the golfcourse, LOL.

That is the cutest, MOST CLEVER snowman table centerpiece I've ever seen. It's a new approach. You still get the snowy feeling, but there's the anticipation of Spring.

Those candlesticks were quite a find. So ornate!

You carved the carrot. YOU CARVED THE CARROT! Boy. You are on a roll.

I'm with OA...WOW, Candy!! That centerpiece is just waaaaay too cute. And YOU CARVED THE CARROT!

I saved a couple of your photos and just realized how FAR behind I am in adding to our Inspiration albums. Sheesh, I've got a lot saved from our gang here to add. I'll get caught up soon I hope.

Candy, you are always inspiring! And if you want to play golf, head for Phoenix. Mr Oblivious has been playing in shorts the past few days. Its beautiful here, 70s.
I can't even begin to imagine the frigid weather and abundunce of snow some of y'all are dealing with...guess its about like you trying to imagine our 115 plus summers tho! I want the weather here to last and the heat to stay away as much as you want Spring and warm sunny days.

Punk, I'll get some measurements posted for you later today, okay? He was a great way to use up an old 2x4. You know I don't mind if you use the idea--that's exactly what I did! ;o) You are all right--he probably does need a Mrs. I can picture her now--rounded corners for the hat brim, a red (or purple) hat maybe with some holly and berries glued on, and some red beads in place of the scarf. Oh, and cute little heart shaped lips! LOL Jeanne, I loved your play on words! You are so funny. Let me tell you, these piles of wood do get a bit heavy--I was surprised at the weight of him! Jane, don't you think the word for this little guys expression is "hopeful"? That's what I see when I look at his face--maybe he's hoping that he won't melt too quickly here in the California sunshine! LOL Luvs

Kath, I love the flatware, it goes with so many different colors. Isn't it funny we both bought the same ones!! Yachter, I'm ready for spring, but because I had all the pieces, I really wanted to use them yet this winter! They don't match any of my other Christmas decor, so they didn't get used then and I have been setting other tables and decided it was now or never. OA, I have had good luck at the TS's, but not so lucky on the golf course, still waiting for that hole in one!! LOL Jane, I did pass up the bowls at first, but when I went back and they were still there, I decided they were supposed to come home with me. Then when I found the rest of the pieces, the table just started coming together. You might find more of the pieces for next winter! I also have a large platter that matches, but it didn't fit on the table. I hope the snow keeps on going, but March is when we get most of our snow around here. Karen, your yard is gorgeous! I'll be right down! Tried to play golf today, but it was only in the 40's and had a chilly breeze, so not as much fun as when its in the 80's! LOL Marlene, I fell in love with that big snowman as soon as I saw him! He was one of the times I paid full price instead of waiting to see if he would be there on a 1/2 price day. Punk, I have 3 of the snowball candles, lg. med. and small, so I could actually stack them into a snowman if I wanted. Nana, Not only did I find them at 4 different stores and 4 different times, but each time they had the 4 pieces! 4 bowls, 4 dinner plates, 4 salad plates, 4 goblets. What are the odds?? Jeanne, now the weatherpeople are saying they don't really know how bad it is going to be. Will know more by Monday! Around here the weather forecasts are kind of like that Indian weather rock, if its white, its snowing, if its wet, its raining,.... LOL Also, my visits to AZ are in the north and the only TS I found there wasn't much to write home about!! Jane, the dining room table is set for St. Patrick's Day. I'll post those pix later. The "nose" they used is wooden plugs used on church pews or some cabinets.Purpose is to hide the screw for a more finished look. They come in packages at Home Depot or other hardware store, they actually have another "plug" that has little twist marks the length of them(1 1/2 in long & 3/8 in thick or thereabouts) & I think 1 of those cut in 2 in the center would work, my DH built a lot of stuff with wood so I have some in garage, can't remember what they are called. Even old Tinker Toys pieces cut off & make nose more pointy & paint orange. Could maybe get some at thrift shop. If you have 1 of those Am. flags that is worn out on the little dowel, that could be cut. Long wooden matches could be cut & filed to a point I use an inch wide nail file with foam center 1 side is course other finer,got it at beauty supply house. Don't like it for nails, too thick ! Great for crafts. Keep with paint brushes.Cheaper yet is go for walk & pick up little twig pieces. Those might look better natural if they have bark on them. Jan

Hi Luvstocraft, I just got home from the Craft Fair at the Junior College. It was wonderful. Lots of jewelry, gourds, candles, soaps, florals and my all time favorite snowman/santa booth. As my daughter and I started in, we could see the line by this ladies' booth. They had tons of snowmen and santas, and after looking and hanging on to one item, I realized that all the others I wanted were gone. Then she told me her husband was bringing more items in, so I stood by, and people were trying to get in front of me. You cannot believe how chaotic this was. I was standing right there and almost didn't get a wagon I wanted, buy my daughter grabbed it and held it in her arms. I bought three items from her, and if I knew how.....I'd post them for you to view. I found out this morning that they don't hand sew all of the items they use, so that was a little disappointing, but maybe not all bad since I can't sew that well. I can decorate and embellish so maybe I can do this after all. A lady at our church said she thought she could measure and make a pattern of the tall snowman I spoke about in an earlier post. Candy, What a Fun, fun table!!!

I can't think of anything else to say except it makes me smile to look at it!!!

I've got to say it too...YOU CARVED THE CARROT!!!

I'm with you I am sick of snow and ice.

There will be no golfing here until at least March with all the snow that's on the ground.

THINK SPRING !!!

Candy, I love it! Looks like the snowman is melting alright. Great job creating this. Your placemats, china, crystal, candle holders, trees and snowmen are wonderful.

Carrot turned out perfect and so glad you used acrylic paint after you carved it! I will be back to look at this again and all of Karen's posts tonight.

What a fun table Candy..and SO Creative..What a great delivery on the 'melting image' of a snowman! That Top Hat from SA was a terrific find and is just perfect. The S&C couple is adorable, and your silver accessories..expecially those Candlesticks, are just lovely.
The addition of your china - crystal, placemats and Silver Trees, created a beautiful table.

Also....thanks for being impressed by my carrot, but did you read it was "styrofoam?" Not too difficult to shape, other than static cling with all the little pieces, LOL
I did know better than to use spray paint after the warnings on here!!

Karen, we tried to play golf in Sedona after Christmas, but the snowstorm decided to visit the same time as we did, : (

We actually have had very little snow in Denver, just enough to keep the courses closed. Then it melts and the weather looks good, and whamo, another couple of inches! It is supposed to be back in the 50's tomorrow and Thurs., so maybe this weekend.....
The mountains are a different story, they have had several feet of snow this winter!! Great for skiing, but I would rather play golf.

It was a fun table to create. I have been planning it since I found the snowman mugs and the hat.

I am using my wedding china more now for tablescapes, than when I was actually eating off of it!!

Too darn darling! I love your wedding china, it's so elegant and it looks wonderful with those placemats. The silver candlesticks are a great accent. I'm ready to play some golf and work in my yard too. But it will have to be warmer that 50 for me.

Candy, you did a great job with the melting snowman centerpiece. That hat was perfect, and the scarf, nose and buttons really made it look like the snowman melted! Love the pretty candlesticks, and the snowmen mugs too. Those bigger snowmen were a good find too. I really like how you used the silver trees and silver placemat along with the big snowflakes. Lovely china and silverware too. Oh heck, it ALL just turned out great! Good job.

candy...you take your GORGEOUS china, heirloom t'cloth, exotic silver candlesticks, crystal goblets, silver placemats (which are so elegant, BTW!), silver trees & snowflakes AND THEN...you grab our attention (as if it wasn't already grabbed) with FROSTY, the snowman melting! Ahhhhh, TOO CUTE! Great t'scape!

And don't worry, holiday-ers, when Frosty melts, Santa says:

Don't cry, Karen, Frosty's not gone for good. You see, he was made out of Christmas snow and Christmas snow can never disappear completely. It sometimes goes away for almost a year at a time and takes the form of spring and summer rain. But you can bet your boots that when a good, jolly December wind kisses it, it will turn into Christmas snow all over again.
