Curled under new tomato leaves
Comments (1)I'm having a similar issue, but with full-size tomatoes (brandywine otv and paul robesons). they looked great for a long time, and now all of the new growth at the top is all twisted/curled. i'm using an earthbox, so the water levels are supposed to self-regulate, and i don't see any purpling of the leaves. the lower half of one of the plants looks totally healthy; on the other, the leaves are curling just a little bit. any help would be much appreciated! brandywine otv up close http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5026/5673037885_f532708e5e_b.jpg paul robeson on left, brandywine otv on right http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5187/5673605858_42bd486420_b.jpg top of paul robeson http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5264/5673605520_5b740282cb_b.jpg paul robeson in foreground http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5306/5673036491_fd50c195e7_b.jpg thank you :)...See Morecotyledon leaves curling under
Comments (6)If you are planning on growing all of the seedlings into mature plants you should transplant them into individual pots fairly soon. The longer you wait, the more the roots become intertwined, so the more damage you will do trying to separate them. 9-12 oz. plastic cups should be fine for that size, dont try to put them into large pots or you will continue to have problems regulating the moisture....See MoreTomato leaves curling under and dry (again)
Comments (4)Given the very artificial and far from normal environment for plants that size the cause could be several things. If the were outside and looked like that I would suspect the plants were root bound in the pots. And that may well be the case. But I have no way of knowing the size of your containers they are in. It also sounds as if, assuming these are growing in potting mix and not hydroponically, that you could easily be over fertilizing them. But I have no way of knowing how often "every second watering" is or why you would be feeding them so much so frequently. The most common cause of leaf curl is very inconsistent soil moisture levels - periods of overly wet followed by overly dry etc. Consistent soil moisture levels eliminates the problem. But that is severe curling so without much more info about all the growing conditions you are providing like ambient air temps, growing mix used, size of containers, source of air circulation, etc. etc. this is all just guess work. Sorry. Do you plan to transplant these outdoors? If so how long until they can be moved to a more normal environment? Dave...See MoreAF leaves curling under
Comments (2)Sounds like root compromise, ... which can be caused by too much water, too big a pot, an inappropriate pot, incorrect soil mix, etc. A photo ... and a description of past care will help ......See MoreKadie
