Backsplash Tile Size
Comments (19)Well, everything isn't quite on the same wall like that. The area under the microwave is actually slightly larger (1-2") than the area under the cabinets. The MW doesn't quite come down as low as I thought it might. Anyhow, I think we are going to go with the pattern that ccoombs1 laid out in earlier in this thread above the range and I think we'll put a couple 3x3 glass mosaics mid height to the left and right of the range (spaced every 2 or 3 tiles) and not put any special mosaic piece under the window. The range and a run of cabinets/countertop is on the left wall and the wall straight ahead is a window that takes up most of the wall (10' or so). I don't have any good pictures where I'm at now, but if anyone wants to see the area I can post. What do you think about the plan?...See Moretravertine backsplash tile honed vs tumbled?
Comments (16)Tumbled is more rustic looking. Honed gives a smoother look. Given the same tile spacing, tumbled will give you wider grout lines than honed, due to the rounded over edges. So, it depends on the look that you want to go for. In our last house we did tumbled travertine with copper accents and loved it. With our new house, we think we will go with a honed travertine, as that will probably go better with our cherry cabinets and crema bordeaux granite. We want the cabinets and the counters to be more dominant than the backsplash....See Moretravertino tile vs travertine for backsplash
Comments (0)Hi! Does Travertino Tile which is porcelain to look like travertine come in 4 x 4 tiles for a backsplash. If so where is a good source for finding them. A couple of stores I went to only had Travertino in 6x6. Would love anyone's thoughts on travertino vs travertine. Thanks for your help!...See MoreDo I Need BackSplash? Help with Suggestions!
Comments (27)Posted by budgeteer_s (My Page) on Wed, Dec 31, 08 at 18:18 Thanks for all your suggestions. I wanted so much to follow with ci_lantro's suggestion because then I'm done. I'll gladly let you snatch that paint brush out of my hand. ha ha. But at the same time if a little tiling will tie up the project, then I'm game. jodi_socal: I'm a little disappointed when you said fire and ice won't work. I just LOVE that F&I BS. But then agin, I think I know all along it's a little too much for my kitchen. Caryscott & petra: Thanks for the picture petra, it says a thousand words. Is spectralight glass tiles? Prices are pretty reasonable. What about that milk green color? will it work? maybe with some garnet pieces sparingly mixed in. I will take some pictures and post two HD Behr's paint card to aid in the discussion of color. Thanks again ALL! Correction: My tiles were Alfagres: Gema4x4: different from what caryscott posted: I loved what caryscott linked:...See MoreCarrie B
