I believe the wool fabrics may come out just fine but almost all wool garments are constructed with other layers made of different materials which may not react well. I'm thinking if waistband stays, linings, interlinings, interfacings, padding, pockets, etc. I own a Miele 1918 and I just washed a couple of dozen pieces of wool yard goods (flannels, tweeds, plaids, twills, gabs, superfines, etc.) and they all came out just fine - if anything thing softer than before the wash. I used Perwoll powder and low-ish temps (85F) and the higher water levels of fine/delicate cycle, but the wash action of the wool cycle. (A bit of creative button-fiddling was necessary to accomplish this hybridization.) I dried the items by hanging them flat on the line in a stiff breeze. I also washed a wool suit (made of Pendleton wool flannel) that I once made. I knew what kind of sub-materials it was made out of, with silk, linen, and wool innards rather than the more common synthetics. It came out fine, with no shrinking or shifting of the sub-assemblies. This was as I expected since I constructed it myself. I wouldn't wash a commercially-made suit or jacket, only a custom-made one. For your pants, if don't you mind fussing with the pressing, why not go ahead and try a pair of your pants in the Miele? Hedge your bet by using an old pair, first. Molly

Well, I do think the bride and groom are going up to camp for a few days before the wedding. But when the relatives arrive, they will be staying in the hotel with everyone. Both of our sons will share a room; our younger son is best man. The bride will share a room with her sister, who will be matron of honor. They had a favorite, very popular double campsite in Big Sur that they really wanted, but they needed 2 adjoining ones to accommodate the expected 50 guests, and they could only get one. (The whole family was online registering for those 2 sites the minute they opened them for reservations.) However, they had already put money down to hold their alternate site which is also beautiful. We will use it; it has gorgeous big redwoods and views of the river, I think. I wanted to discourage them from camping that week, picturing a bride full of mosquito bites and a dress crushed into their car and tent with all the equipment they would need, but they have it all figured out and this is what they want. We want them to be happy. (My brother is driving up, so we have enlisted their help in transporting the wedding dress to avoid their cramming it into the car with their camping gear.) The rehearsal dinner is also at a camp site, and the local camp vendor is going to cater it. I assume hamburgers or BBQ chicken. We will all arrive just in time to get to the rehearsal dinner as it is quite a trek to get there, even by plane. No one lives locally, which would have been a big help. The bride and her mother and our son are planning the locales, decorations, menu and everything. We are paying the bill. Hopefully, this will be the wedding of our bride's dreams. The reception is at their favorite restaurant in Big Sur.

For pratical purposes I suppose it has to be some kind of light cotton jersey or synthetic jersey. That will add a warming layer with out too much bulk, and easy to throw in the washer. Its' easy to get carried away with merino jersey or silk, which might add extra comfort and warmth, but will make cleaning not so easy. The jogging pants in themselves are most likely something that needs a more heavy duty washing powder to turn out clean. There might be an option in viscose, both jersey and woven fabrics, but might take more search to find the correct fabric. I'm afraid I don't have a very specific recommendation.

I can't find them online, but I recently bought several pairs of what Macy's advertised as 'leggings' but which are pretty close to what's being described/discussed here. They were in the regular sportswear-not activewear-department with all the other pants, ie not with the exercise clothes. Anyway, they are made of knit fabric, band waist and cut to fit snugly but extremely comfortably. They've got pockets on the back and came in both ankle length and a longer boot cut style. I bought several pairs and love them for work. I always wear a top untucked over slim fit pants anyway since I work in a generally business casual office (university advisor/admin), so they are perfect. The only problem I have is that I accidentally hemmed one pair inside out. So now they have cuffs which really isn't working for the look I'm going for LOL. Once I fix that, good to go.
