Great! I used to love shopping in my closet. I did better than you 13 years ago. I found my mother of the bride dress in mine for $25.00! It looked at good as if I had picked it out that day. Enjoy the day!

you're kidding, right? You bought an outfit for over $100....then FORGOT about it???? Alho I am happy for you that you now have something to wear to your son's wedding, I am almost appauld by this.

I am flabberghasted too. But there it is, and I don't think the faries brought it. The ball was an annual event, I was obliged to go, and finally the organization cancelled it abput 8 years ago, and we gals were all relieved. But I must have bought the outfit at the end of the season 8 years ago since it was on sale. Either I forgot about it because I was so busy, or I figured that I could not return it at that late date. I do buy ahead when I see things on sale.

There's been lots of water under the bridge since then, including our daughter's wedding. I can't explain it, because I simply cannot remember ever purchasing it!!

Wow. And how great for you! I wish I could find something like that for my mother-of-the-groom outfit, but I WON'T find it in my closet (unless I recycle the dress from my daughter's 1st wedding in '04.)When is the wedding? Our's is in August.

How wonderful for you, Sheila Joyce! If only I could be so lucky. My son is getting married in July and I haven't even started looking. I haven't worn a dress in years, so I'm thinking pant suit, too. I guess I'd better start shopping.

I was so relieved that DD wanted us to dress as Pirates for her wedding.

I think it's only right that we see a pic of you in it! You know....so we can help find....oh yeah.....shoes. That's what we can help you shop for. But we would definitely have to SEE the outfit. (pretty please?)

I had a friend that wore the same dress for all her daughter's weddings. She called it "my wedding dress". She figured at least half the people at the wedding had never seen it before. I thought it was a great idea. She had three or four daughters, can't remember. So happy for you. Finding something to wear is always the biggest hurdle.

Kind of OT, but I have a long sleeved, black, velvet, scooped neck t-shirt that I wear to every dressy event. When the days get warm I panic because I have nothing to wear! Every time I go with Mom to a church event or meal I always ask her, "Do you think they get tired of seeing me in this shirt?" she just shakes her head "no, they probably don't even notice".

Well, I don't have a camera, so maybe someone will shoot me a snapshot and forward it after the wedding in September. I will copy it for all of you then.

This mother-of-the-bride suit works, but it is certainly not a favorite outfit. It was just serviceable and the right price, so I bought it probably at least 8 years ago. I do have one other outfit I do like that I need to try in case it still fits. My son has never seen me in it as I have worn it only once, so that may work if I am lucky. It is that black stretchy stuff, plain pants and silver glitter glued all over the shell and jacket (which tends to come off during the evening and get all over you). I may lend that to my smaller sister if I decide against it for me.

I used to need glitzy stuff for organization galas that I had to attend where I was an official or volunteer. Now I am out of all that since I retired, and I have not dug that stuff out of the back closet since my active years some eons ago. As I used to say, I can't wear it to the Alpha Beta grocery store, so I have no use for it.

sheilajoyce, I'm interested in the wedding site. It's at a campsite? Like a large group site? Is everyone camping before/after the wedding? I always used to have a dream of getting married at my favorite campsite, so I'm curious how they're doing it. Thanks!

Well, I do think the bride and groom are going up to camp for a few days before the wedding. But when the relatives arrive, they will be staying in the hotel with everyone. Both of our sons will share a room; our younger son is best man. The bride will share a room with her sister, who will be matron of honor.

They had a favorite, very popular double campsite in Big Sur that they really wanted, but they needed 2 adjoining ones to accommodate the expected 50 guests, and they could only get one. (The whole family was online registering for those 2 sites the minute they opened them for reservations.)

However, they had already put money down to hold their alternate site which is also beautiful. We will use it; it has gorgeous big redwoods and views of the river, I think.

I wanted to discourage them from camping that week, picturing a bride full of mosquito bites and a dress crushed into their car and tent with all the equipment they would need, but they have it all figured out and this is what they want. We want them to be happy.

(My brother is driving up, so we have enlisted their help in transporting the wedding dress to avoid their cramming it into the car with their camping gear.)

The rehearsal dinner is also at a camp site, and the local camp vendor is going to cater it. I assume hamburgers or BBQ chicken. We will all arrive just in time to get to the rehearsal dinner as it is quite a trek to get there, even by plane. No one lives locally, which would have been a big help.

The bride and her mother and our son are planning the locales, decorations, menu and everything. We are paying the bill. Hopefully, this will be the wedding of our bride's dreams. The reception is at their favorite restaurant in Big Sur.

Wow, that sounds really nice!! Really nice of you too. :) My friends camped out for 3 or 4 days before their wedding, it was also in the woods but at a lodge. It was really fun.

My oldest son (42) eloped last July with my DEARLY loved DDIL (we knew they were gonna be together forever; the elopement was a surprise to both families) and got married in the woods in CO. They stayed in a lodge. The wedding pics are GORGEOUS! Our daughter got married 9 months earlier on a beach in Galveston. We all rented a beach house. The wedding pics are GORGEOUS! What I'm saying is that having a wedding out in nature is GORGEOUS. Blessings for the new couple.

Wildchild - Pirates? How fun that must have been! I am so happy to see young people making their weddings personal and special. I love watching My Fair Wedding and seeing all the unique and wonderful themes that couples celebrate their weddings with. When I got married it was all so traditional, and so expected. Not that there is anything wrong with tradition, but thinking outside the box is so creative.
