Mixing warm and cool colors
Comments (5)Since you're pulling the color from the accent tiles in the existing backsplash, Grassland will certainly go just fine. If you can find towels, shower curtain, rug, that sort of thing in a somewhat deeper version of the Grassland color (say, more like Connected Gray, two shades down on the same strip as Grassland - try JCPenney) that would look VERY snazzy and provide a bridge or balance between the darker cherry cabinets and the light tiles and walls. I know I've posted this picture a squintillion times, but here's the secondary bath in my previous house combining both warm and cool colors and dark and light hues - light blue walls, white trim/vanity top/toilet (couldn't afford to replace the Barbie-beige tub unit though so we hid it behind a nice shower curtain), dark-chocolate brown cabinets, medium-toned shades-o'-beige floor......See MoreNew build-kitchen> Island granite ct warm woodtone & cool tone mix?
Comments (65)Yes, on a Sunday- The drywallers showed up this am to start putting up the sheet-rock.. FLo- waiting on a rendering/drawing for the 2 masterbath towers from the kd. Went to the local little island hardware store that carrys BM paint, brought back a bunch of paint chips to look at in the house for a start.. Because the house is very open, looking for something that I can use in/for kitchen, foyer, Dr & living areas. Jan- we are building on a small island, off of another island, no designers here on this island...I agree with you on the floor issue, I just need to convince dh- about the flow and using wood throughout....See MoreMixing warm and cool white/gray tones in different rooms?
Comments (1)I have warm creamy whites in my kitchen and white white in the bathroom (subways, tub, sink, towels) with carrara on the vanity. It's just not a thing to me. Yes, different whites, but you can't see the kitchen from the bathroom and it's never occurred to me they need to match. ETA: Although the bathroom is a more pure white, it doesn't feel cool to me, just clean. I don't really care for cool shades in any quantity....See MoreCan I mix "cool" and "warm"?
Comments (14)The floors “look” slippery.(hope they are not).. but the white floors seem labor intensive…?…depending on how carefree you want your retirement to be …i would get creative with rugs to cover most of the shiny floors…finding and adding rugs you love …can be the inspiration for adding colors that you like in art and accessories…one way to add color that relates well to the Florida vibe is to paint the ceilings a very pale aqua or blue..a nod to the beautiful waters and skies in Florida…i also think the black accents are striking..and may even go with black cabinet hardware …adding black frames to some of the art you select as well…all of these small details will lessen the “ white box”..feel...See Morejoaniepoanie
