Maybe with IE open you could push the Alt key and read the menu bar where you will see favorites. And if you want to have a favorites bar , you can try that too... click View > Toolbars > Favorites

The Favorites Bar is just the "bar" that runs just above the page - usually a small set of Favorites if you actually use it.

There are two other choices - here are the shortcuts :

Favorites Sidebar :: Control+Shift+I
Organize Favorites :: Control+B

If you look up in View>>Explorer Bar, you will see the first one listed there, and you can get to them that way too, but the keyboard shortcuts are faster.

Any problem with Firefox we could help out with ?
The Favorites thing was always one of the things that bugged me about IE, among quite a number of other things actually.
;-)

Thanks Mikie, but I have hundreds of folders with bookmarks in them and they won't all fit on the bar!

kbarb, those options work, but the organizing won't let me open the Favorite, and I am not crazy about having all the bookmarks down the side. No worries, like I said, it is a petty thing, but my muscle memory wants to just go and click on the Favorites tab and not stop to open anything else!

As for Firefox, I keep getting a "script error" sign, and it asks if I want to close or debug the script or ignore it. I took this computer in to Data Doctors last week because of this problem, I did have other problems (my hard drive was going bad) but that didn't fix the script error. Any thoughts on this?

Actually I wouldn't say it's petty if it's annoying.
A browser is something you use all the time so enough annoyances and then you start to look for alternatives, or pounding on things.

So I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish though - are you saying, you want to click on Favorites and have it immediately drop down, then click on the desired favorite ?
I'm a Firefox (FF) user, but I'm not sure you can do that in IE, unless perhaps there is some xtension or addon.

For the FF scripting error . . .

Is that the "Unresponsive Script" error . . . or something else. Can you give more information ?

I get that a lot on an old XP computer that I haven't had time to replace. It happens all the time actually. There may not be enough memory as well - but that computer is generally (and strangely) sluggish.
On my two Win7 computers, it never happens.

Are you on XP by any chance ?
Does it happen frequently ?

Here's a page on that :

Warning Unresponsive script - What it means and how to fix it

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script

That page refers to another page that has some directions for finding the source of the problem :

Unresponsive Script Warning
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unresponsive_Script_Warning

Then after all that, and just as an aside, I would think to try running FF in Safe Mode perhaps (which is completely different from Windows Safe Mode.) and see if the error goes away.

Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

(And of course, there are always the Opera and Chrome browsers - no real problem with having any and all on board to try them out. But I'm a FF user myself - just too useful)
