Garish/Commitment: last look before removal.

Nothing looks more bereft than a dcor-specific room when it gets emptied out: The decorator-y sofas that end up at the second-hand store always look more pathetic than the generic microfiber ones.

This room is high-70s Masonite paneling, wood-woven blinds and plaid carpet. You could not tweak or update this room in any way that makes sense.

Missing already are the red painted, upholstered wing chair and ottoman, the green-and-white plaid bench, the red tweed games chairs, the black shaded lamps, the Curtis Jere over the fireplace, the Jim Beam decanter Trains, and the other art.

We are keeping the sofas. I am taking the lacquer table that matches the sofas, so I will need to reupholster mine in something similar, IF I can find it.

But I imagine the paneling and carpet are dumpster bound. I remember the designer wanting real wood paneling but my parents not wanting to spend for that in a basement. That might be a different story if it was actual wood.
