paint colors for small bath

We've finally chosen our tiles for our bathroom remodel. Around the tub carrera marble porcelain tile. For the floor, a medium grey that matches the grey marbling in the tub tile. White bath cabinets. I wanted a neutral bathroom and love my tile choices. But, for the paint color for the walls - do I need to add some color, or should I just paint them grey? The bathroom is small (about 7 x 9) so I don't want anything dark, dark colors just feel too closed in to me. My original thought was to keep it neutral and add color with the curtains and towels. Open to suggestions.....

If you want it neutral, then paint it neutral. If you want just a touch of color, grays come with all sorts of colors imbedded with them that, when put up on the wall, become quite apparent. You'll probably need to try a number of swatches to get it right...gray is very tricky to select.

As we speak, I'm having my guest bath ceiling painted the same color as the walls, SW Antique White. I have a south-facing window in the tub alcove and my ceilings are 9 ft. When I had my entire interior painted 5 years ago, I chickened out in the first couple of rooms and had the ceilings painted white. It looks okay, but you see a white ceiling. In my hall and open space living area with vaulted ceiling, it would have been weird and difficult changing colors so I had it all painted the same. I love it. It envelopes the rooms. The light often makes the ceiling look lighter or darker. Sometimes the intersecting planes just disappear. That's my favorite look. I say go for it and if you hate it, repaint it. I hate painting ceilings. :)

Thanks everyone! I did see the suggestions on the BM website but the Spring Meadow just did not appeal to me. But now I am really considering it! I only need a small amount of paint so I wish I could find a similar Behr color so that I could use one of their 8 oz sample pots. I really hate buying excess paint. I think the pink would by too babyish and it would be really hard to find a good shade. Javachick - It is Linoleum, actually a a commercial product made by Armstrong. This one is in the Linorette Line (Hudson Valley Blue). I LOVE it. I will posted finished pics soon. I only have a few small things to fix and the mirror should be delivered tomorrow :)

Lisa, you can create your own mosaic patterns with the daltile mosaic designer: http://daltilemosaic.chameleonpower.com ETA I don't like that floor because it's not really mosaic and it's so obvious where the big tiles meet. Since you don't love it, why put it in? When was your house built? That will help in choosing an appropriate floor pattern.

You know, I had been thinking of some shade of gray-violet but wasn't sure about it. That violet pearl is lovely! Right now, I have a pale blue which would actually look very nice too. I guess I just want to change it, although the blue looks good with my tile selections, I just feel I need a new and different wall color when its all done. Definitely will get some swatches this weekend. Thanks!

BM Violet Pearl Bath. I also like Nightingale, which is a bit deeper than the VP.

If you want a grey with some lavender, try Benj. Moore Angelica from the affinity line.

This is why I love this forum. So many people with a good eye for color. Those photos are so beautiful. I am going to get swatches of all 3 color suggestions. The violet shade looks so gorgeous with the marble. Thanks to all!
