I've joined the old lady on the scooter club, went to Sam's today, just waaaay too much walking for me. First time I've ridden one of those things, sure beats walking, FUN!

Absolutely inspiring!!!! I can't believe how much larger it looks with all the plantings, paths and "bones". It makes me feel like "I can do it" when I get inspired to take on a job that just seems too big. I just love everything about it. You should pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. Carol

Phyllis, it was a amazing couple of days. Like you, I'll never forget it. I only shared a few of the hundreds, I'm sure, of the pics we took. This is all new to us as he made this choice last minute. What I know now is he will be at Pendleton for the next 3 months for training and then assigined to a base for additional training for six months from what he has told us. A year more or less??? Grace, welcome to the forum! I've been very busy and haven't had much time here. Man, four boys...you have your hands full. Ellen, not sure you know what your asking for....these guys eat like there is no tomorrow...lol! Terri, MOS...from what he told me it is Military Occupational Specialty. He went for supply and demand to take advantage of his accountting. He did very well in H.S. and was in college courses his final year. Also, won a couple of scholarships in a national compition with his team. As it stands now he changed his mind and decided he wanted to go into infantry. He made this change with several others once they arrived in SD. Not sure why he did this...he just said it was what he wanted and felt he needed to do??? Claims he can make a lat change in a couple of years??? DS and I are meeting with his recruiter on Friday to get more info. Reguardless, I will stand behind him and support him and his decisions even though I might not be happy with them. I'm thinking it has something to do with older friends in the army who are now serving????. Pickle Lady, you are one of many who's names are the norm in my group. It may be your proper name or forum name....the members of this forum have become a part of my groups everyday lives....your ears should be burning. : ) Thanks again for all of your posts, support, and general good will.....my group and I love all y'all!! I suspect I will oil it at least once; I should try it on the piece that won't be visible when the cabinet goes in today. Blackeyedpeas - knowing the gender of the baby before it's born is like knowing what your birthday gift is ahead of time. Ruins the surprise, which is almost the best part, IMO! Neither of my kids wanted to know in advance (and in "my day" it was not possible to know), and I suspect my next daughter will want a surprise package, too. So...I'll get there eventually. Thanks, everyone.

There was plenty of room behind the paper towels, didn't get a whole lot.

I used them when I had had foot surgery and was in a walking boot. So fun to drive but I got strange looks from older people.

Seriously, I'm glad you took advantage of it. Before I had hip surgery I couldn't get through some of those larger stores unless I had a cart to hang onto. And I still don't plan full length of a big mall shopping trips, I don't need to see every store that badly. Those cement floors! Ouch. Age has little to do with our mobility, I was 48 with no joint space at all in one hip, likely genetic because the other still perfectly healthy 15 years later.

Just don't be mowing over those of us slower than you and on foot ;)

I absolutely love my very own sporty red scooter I am now able to do things that I no longer could.

A new 'coming of *age*' milestone!

I used the scooters in big box stores before and after my two hip replacements. Those places are too darn BIG. I wonder if they realize that some people (me) put off shopping because it's such a challenge?

I feel for the employees, putting in long days on that cement.

I use them all the time...I have trouble with walking and pushing the basket but it's worse on my arms than walking so the cart is a life saver...
