Well, I looked in the fridge this morning, and decided to make beef stew, with the package I though was stewing beef.
Later, went into the kitchen and pulled it out, saw that it was sirloin strips...well, I decided to make the stew with it.
I cut the strips into smaller pieces, and proceeded to make the stew, just adding a couple of beef bullion cubes to make up for the lack of fat.

So, DH said that the stew was really great - and I told him the reason...and we both agreed that from now we're eating sirloin stew.

Along with the fresh, blanched green beans simmered in Wegman's basting sauce with herbs, it was very good.

Got to digging around in the freezer and found a small sirloin steak. I fixed that for my main meal. Also made WildOats quinoa and brown rice blend. Followed it up with some canned pears. Not the best of my meals but I'm no longer hungry. : * )

I just put Death Chicken in the oven. It's one of our favorite meals. I don't make it often because we want to eat it all lol. Good stuff! The recipe is from my friend Jill Conner Browne the sweet potato queen.

Death chicken
Line a 9 X 13 pan with 6 or more slices of uncooked bacon.
Pour a cup of uncooked rice over the bacon.
On top of the rice put some chicken pieces. Salt and pepper the chicken a little bit and sprinkle a little paprika over it.
***Then whisk together one can of cream of chicken soup and 1 cup of water, adding a little bit of garlic salt, a pinch of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of oregano, and 2 to 3 tablespoons of dried parsley flakes.
Pour all that over the chicken and cover the whole deal with HEAVY foil.
Cook it at 300 degrees for 2 hours, with no peeking.

*** Before putting the chicken on the rice pour about half of the chicken soup and water mixture over the rice, then put the chicken down and continue with the seasonings and pouring the rest of the soup mixture over all of it. This assures that the rice beneath the chicken pieces get enough moisture to cook.

Raven, I am going to have to try your chicken. Afterall, what doesn't taste better with BACON! Sounds really yummy.

Tonight, DH is cooking. We are having bbqed short ribs, with rice and probably peas. Its his favorite veggie.

I made French Toast for supper. I put sugar and cinnamon and vanilla in my eggs and milk. It was really good.

I've copied the Death Chicken recipe into my files to try sometime. I'd make it this week but don't have bacon.

I put a chicken on the rotisserie (Set it and forget it!), cooked some carrots flavored with honey and orange zest, steamed spinach, and baked sweet potato fries.

Tonight was Ladies Night Out which consisted of a chili tasting contest and Mexican train. I sampled six different chilies and that was dinner for tonight.

Monica, that's funny about you taking out something different from what you were looking for. But you now have a new and improved beef stew recipe!

Shirley, a steak goes down good sometimes. We don't have it often but do enjoy it. Your quinoa and rice sound really good.

Raven, you've mentioned your Death Casserole a couple of times. I'd better write it out and try it :-)

Prairie Rose, any kind of barbecue is a treat! Good for hubby in making dinner.

Bengardening, we like breakfast for dinner. French toast either with our without ham is a favourite.

Rhizo I love the way your carrots sound. When I steam them I usually add butter and basil and we like that. I've never made sweet potato fries. I've baked sweet potatoes where they bubbled up all over the baking sheet and made a sticky mess. I learned to put them on a baking sheet after the first time, they made a mess on the bottom of the oven :-(

GM, I keep wanting to ask you what Mexican Train is, then I promptly forget. Was chili deliberately on the menu? It sounds like it.

The co-rec volleyball team I play on went to the Mexican restaurant across the street from the gym, and I had numero siete, plus a jumbo margarita.

Mmmmm. Siete, the tastiest of all numbers.

My sister in law dropped by with a big container of chili my brother made and some crusty rolls, hot dogs, hot dog rolls and a piece of cheddar cheese to grate on top. My sister and I each had a bowl of chili, I had a heated crusty roll with mine. I made a pineapple upside down cake and we had that warm out of the oven for dessert. It was a late dinner and I am full. Enough left over for chili dogs tomorrow night
