Substitution for cream cheese? Use Sour Cream?
Comments (4)If you take sour cream and put it in a cheesecloth and let most of the water leak out, you essentially have cream cheese. Except that yours doesn't have starch, guar gum, or any of the other stabilizers/additives. So that's a great way to do it. Or you can use yogurt and do the same thing. Whatever you don't use, you can form into little balls and submerge in olive oil with some herbs....See MoreRe:Ann T's White Chocolate Cream Cheese Raspberry Tart
Comments (7)Ann - that tart was wonderful! My husband, who is not one to overstate, said it was so good he wanted to cry LOL! It is not only one of the best tasting desserts I've ever made, but one of the prettiest. Clearly a caloric indulgence, but worth it. I'll add a couple more miles to my walk for this one!...See MoreAnn t's cream cheese danish???
Comments (6)Bread machine (instant yeast) doesn't need to be proofed with warm water or milk before mixing. You can just put it in with the flour and let it sit for 30 seconds or so, then add the liquid ingredients and mix. I find it easier to use. That's how bread machines mix ingredients, hence the name. I buy bulk packages of it now at Sam's Club and keep it in the freezer, that way I'm always ready for a Danish emergency. You'll find they come up a lot in the winter. That's Ann's picture of the Danish, mine never looks quite that good, but I always save a picture with the recipe, so at least I know what I'm aiming for! Comments (3)chi, I make them for Amanda every year and I don't add brandy at all. I sometimes use my home canned brandied cherries and sometimes I just use maraschino cherries with no alcohol. It still comes out fine and is Amanda's favorite holiday treat. If I had to choose, I'd go with the Irish Cream or the southern Comfort, although I think Amaretto would be good if you have some. The almond and cherry mixture is something I like. Oh, and I don't always have butterscotch chips so sometimes I do them all chocolate. Still good! Annie...See More- 11 years ago
