Ad Choice problems

The ads are awful! There is one that covers the whole top of the page, and about an inch and a half down. It blocks the game I play on Pogo, so now I can't play the card game, because the ad can't be removed, no matter what I've done. "Ad choices" does not appear in my installed programs anywhere. Now what?

After getting advice to install AdBlock Plus, this is what happened....the next day.

Sorry to be a pain, but...installing Adblock Plus didn't change anything. I followed instructions for Windows 7, IE, and I have the pop -upsetting at High.. No change. So after going to Google, and researching what to do, I'm still at a loss on how to remove the ad-choice banner that covers the card game. The ad choice ads pop up everywhere. I don't like downloading things, but if it comes from people in the know, I'll do it.
Anything else to recommend?

You need to run 2 programs

1 AdwCleaner
2 Junkware removal tool

Your browser is infected, both these tools can be downloaded from bleeping computer. These tools do not install to a folder, they run from the desktop. When your finished you delete them.

Make sure you run the clean option in adwCleaner

Then follow up with a malwarebytes scan.

I had something like that happen with Target ads one day recently. I actually could not use the Gardenweb site at all. Had it gone on, it would have been enough to make me stop shopping at Target, where I am a regular and frequent customer. And it would have forced me off Gardenweb, since I could not read, could not post, and could not even contact customer service. I think it was actually a programming error, and it was gone the next day. I since have forgiven them, but at the time I was furious. Rosefolly

My experience with Malwarebytes is its missing some bad guys all too often lately ... then superAntiSpyware seems to get most misses. fwiw; Microsoft now has a new download program.. an 'on demand' security scan... gig file, long scan.. read here.. Microsoft Safety Scanner Bad part is no definition updates... every ten days you have to reinstall the whole thing. Its a large download, and think maybe 1.5hr scan here. I would not run any type of cleaner, some are OK but some can really mess things up including in the registry. Especially if you don't have an exact name of something safe, lots of malware uses names very very similar to acceptable program names. If you have easylist added to the adblock plus it should remove most ads. Be sure in the adblock plus preferences you uncheck the option to allow certain types of ads. If you find an ad it doesn't remove run your cursor over the ad and edges, if any little box pops up that says block click on it and it will add it to the block list.

Again run the clean option on adwcleaner and make sure you do, a lot of people run the scan a forget to run clean, the clean option actually removes the browser infection.

Press scan. press report, press clean.

When you're done with adwcleaner, open it again and choose uninstall.

On JRT just right click and choose delete. When your done.

If you could post the adwCleaner log [SO].txt that would be helpful.
