I would not run any type of cleaner, some are OK but some can really mess things up including in the registry. Especially if you don't have an exact name of something safe, lots of malware uses names very very similar to acceptable program names. If you have easylist added to the adblock plus it should remove most ads. Be sure in the adblock plus preferences you uncheck the option to allow certain types of ads. If you find an ad it doesn't remove run your cursor over the ad and edges, if any little box pops up that says block click on it and it will add it to the block list.

I got a reply from GW people this morning to do the following to stop the ads. It involves the green underlined words we sometimes see, but it stopped the obnoxious ads. "I apologize for any inconvenience these ads as have caused you. We appreciate getting feedback from our members, and I have reported the pop-up issue to our community manager. In the meantime, you should be able to opt-out of the in-line (green underlined) texts by following these instructions: 1. When you're on a GardenWeb page, hover your cursor on the double-underlined word, but don't click it. You will see an advertisement open in a pop-up box. 2. In the upper-left corner of the box, click the 'V' logo. A new browser window will open the Vibrant in-text advertising page. 3. Scroll partially down this page, and click the 'Disable' tab. Click 'Click here to disable.' The page should update to now say 'Click here to enable.' 4. Close the Vibrant in-text advertising browser window, then once you refresh your main browser window the Vibrant in-text advertising should disappear."

alanis, I have the membership. The list is huge. If you're interested in some foods, I can let you know if they're on it. One of mine has had terrible allergies since he was 4 months. I tried different proteins, grain free, and raw. Nothing worked. We finally did allergy testing and it turns out it was environmental. This was 1.5 years ago. He's on immunotherapy now and we need to switch the formulation, not helping. To really determine if it's a food allergy, you need to do an elimination diet. There's no allergy test that can accurately determine what food your dog's allergic to. The better labs state this on their tests, and your vet should let you know as well. There's a few ways to go about doing an elimination diet. Both require prescribed foods. Our was a hydrolyzed soy protein. You keep them them on it for at least 8 weeks with no other food, or treats, not human or dog. Just nothing but the prescription food. Then, if the itching stops, you'll know it is the food and not environmental. If it is the food, after the 8 weeks you can add one protein source and see how they do. If the itching doesn't start back up- you'll know they tolerate it. if it does, you stop adding the protein and wait another 8 weeks, then try something new again. Rinse and repeat. If it environmental, do an allergy test. Immunotherapy may be the way to go, at least it can't hurt. But it can take over a year to see results. Then there's also the new "miracle drug" Apoquel. This is a life saver for many dogs. It's a new medication from Zoetis (came out about two years ago now.) It works by inhibiting the function of a variety of pruritogenic and proinflammatory cytokines, as well as cytokines involved in allergy that are dependent on JAK1 or JAK3 enzyme activity4" It's supposed to me much safer than steroids, but it's still difficult to get in many places and Zoetis can't keep up with demand. Mine is on Apoquel right now. But Because it's still fairly new, I've had blood work done twice to make sure there aren't any problems. Zoetis doesn't recommend it, saying it's perfectly safe, but my dermatologist vet and regular vet are both on board with the blood testing. Either way good luck- and like I said, if there's a specific food you're interested in, let me know and I can check the editor's choice list. But I will say, when you're picking out a new food, make sure it only lists one type of protein. You need to read the ingredients and see what's in it because even something called Beef and Bones can have a significant amount of pork and chicken.

If you have ad block plus with Firefox be sure you have the easy list filter added and any time an ad shows up run your cursor around the edges of it looking fora tab to pop up that says block cclick it. If you go into the settings for ad block there is an option yoummust physically check mark that blocks other types of ads I think these fall into that category. Click on your ad block icon and look at the settings and preferences and the filter subscriptions
