Small Bathroom Help 6'6'' x 5'. Convert Bedroom to Bathroom?
Comments (17)You are going to want more than 32" for the toilet. 36" is standard (and perhaps even code in some areas???? Not here in Maine but I heard people saying that on other forums...) We have 34" and it feels fine but I dont think I'd want to go much tighter. You could solve that simply by flipping the closet and shower. So, have your shower -rotated 90 degrees and witha glass end wall- at the end of the tub (which is a nice setup you can see in many bathrooms, the tub deck can actually protrude under the shower glass wall and be a ledge or seat in the shower). Then the passageway moves to the left, and you can steal a bit of space from the other closet for the toilet. Either that of have a shorter vanity. 48" isn't a size I'd fight for. It's too short for a double vanity, really (unless you're using one of the new two-faucet 'trough" styles) so why not go down to 42" and have a better toilet area? For resale, though, you should consider a double vanity. Some people I guess expert truly huge ones, like at least 5+' long. But you CAN get smaller ones, Ikea has some great ones for tight spaces. But if you're not selling anytime soon, do what YOU like!! (But I still think you'll want more toilet space...)...See Moreelectric radiant heating in a WET bathroom possible?
Comments (3)I think weâÂÂre in the wrong forum here, however⦠The dimensions for this bathroom are a mere 36in wide by 9ft long - thatâÂÂs it! The shower area does not feel cramped due to there being no constraints of either a door or threshold to step over. There is no âÂÂstep-up' into the bathroom as it was planned as a European shower which by definition means no step up no threshold no nothing beyond what there was to enter the old bathroom. Cost for the Schluter water proofing materials, and labor to install Schluter & tiles was $10k not including tiles, Schluter linear drain or any preparation to have everything ready for the tile installer, Hugo Sanchez. All dimensions had to be prepared to within a 1/32in for the linear drain to fit perfectly between the finished walls. Electric in-floor is not a problem, nothing should go wrong, however, it would be very difficult to repair if there were a problem within the electric floor mat itself. It must be connected by a licensed electrician to a ground fault interrupter circuit breaker for your safety. We also chose a thermostatically controlled exposed shower faucet (Grohe Grotherm 3000) not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for servicing, as the tiles will never have to be removed for any kind of servicing. Regarding Schluter, which is the âÂÂgold standardâ for wet room waterproofing, you can contact them for a recommendation to a certified installer. Even better might be to ask for a recommendation from a high-end ceramic tile dealer in your area. Even so, ASK about the level of competence and quality of the installerâÂÂs work. Also ask for references. Regarding your bathroom window location, I think this will always be a problem left as a conventional window as indicated in your drawing. What I would suggest as a permanent fix would be to replace the entire window with square glass blocks either set in place with an epoxy grout or silicone. This would satisfy the need for privacy and make the window area virtually trouble and maintenance free. Regarding storage space Robern is THE choice, fully manufactured in the USA, high-end and drop dead gorgeous throughout! Ours is wired with 6-electrical outlets within the cabinet (standard) and is internally wired for cable TV & Internet. Comments (19)The "regular" bath layout that jensbride posted first is very similar to what our DD & DS shared for years and worked very well. The door, however, was a pocket style and placed directly across from the toilet. This allowed the vanity to be scooted around the corner to take up the whole wall. It leaves the toilet close to the tub, but with lots of elbow room. Our kids just learned to keep the door partially closed when the bath wasn't in use due to the "view"....See MoreHELP! Comments (1)Hello, Since you are planning on keeping the vanity cabinets with dark granite countertops along with white subway tiles, I think an easy solution would be to bridge the gap between the countertop and the subway tile by using a white marble look floor tile with dark veins. Below are just a couple of tiles I found on Houzz. I think using light-colored floor tiles would keep the bathrooms from looking too small or dark compared to using darker floor tiles. Are you also planning on painting the walls? I think painting the walls in a gray color would be also a quick and inexpensive way of making sure the whole space looks good. The current paint color looks like it's on the yellow side and I think your tiles, granite countertop, and the brown vanities would definitely look better if the yellow walls went gray....See MoreairNY
