Best teensy really blue hostas?
Comments (22)KEN: Hahahahahahahaha. There, got that off my chest. The Chinese guy is a boor. His 20-something "son" (who I suspect is an illegal tenant, probably sleeping in the attic, which is prohibited) litters all over the gardens, sidewalk, and lawn with disgusting cigarette butts. Who wants to look at those? Every Friday night, when I'm trying to enjoy the Sabbath, I have to listen to a knock-down, drag-out fight through the wall. He is screaming at his girlfriend or someone else, while I am trying to have a peaceful evening. He keeps putting unwanted cheap looking trashy stuff in an otherwise utterly beautiful and costly garden created by yours truly. What's to like, Ken? Here is an approximation of the latest cheap looking bottle--or urinal, who knows--he put into the garden. The hysterical thing is, he laid it on its side just like the white Garden Cat vase is lying, but THAT is on its side for a totally different reason--the freeze/thaw cycle. And, I live in QUEENS. Not Manhattan. We actually have trees, grass, and flowers in Queens. This is a view of one of the courtyards in my complex, plus some unoccupied rooms (got the pic off a real estate broker site): Does that look like a slum? As for the "unwashed humanity", I don't think many of them would pass muster by our co-op board, who has to approve of you before you can purchase. My immediate community is really nice, like a little village. You want to see unwashed humanity, try downtown Flushing, Queens, with its hordes of illegal Chinese immigrants, or Jamaica, Queens, with the people who toss trash out their windows onto the ground (just like back home!), or similar neighborhoods where the locals don't have respect for their environs....See MoreBlue hostas not blue
Comments (9)Same time of day????? Same week of same temperatures? So much is weather dependent, and that must be the reason that my favorites change from month to month and year to year...sometimes week to week. Fickle, I guess. My Queen of the Seas, which normally stays gray/blue all year, is stripey now. We had 3 days of 90 degrees (heat wave for here)and you can see where the sun hit the plant thru the 2x2 patio cover. Same deal with Autumn Frost. -Babka...See MoreBlue Mammoth, Blue Umbrellas, Bressingham Blue ??
Comments (14)Thanks! Wow! Krossa Regal seems quite interesting in form. How blue is the color??? I measured the area last night (after moving some smaller plants and yanking out all the violets that had taken over). It's basically 36"width x 36"depth, with a least a foot of wiggle room on the width angle, as it would be fine if some of the plant grows behind the pine tree that centers this shaded bed. In May, I bought "Love Pat" at the Sisters' Plant Sale (an annual plant yard sale at someone's home in eastern Mass.) not really knowing what it is. I liked the color and the form (and the price) so I got it. Now I know it will get a lot bigger than the space I planted it in! Thanks for all this information and all these suggestions!! Judye whose eyes and desires are bigger than her yard!...See MoreHosta Blue 2015
Comments (52)Sunnywood , I would love to edit with names but McTavish could do a better job at this then me. I got far too many hosta at the same time and some of the tags got lost and all snow covered grounds now. Myrle knows where each and every one of my plants are and only a few she didn't know where they are either. Sorry. I got to the point of just loving what they look like and not actually the names now . I just have no more room or energy to start new beds. Never say never though ha ha...See MoreDelawareDonna
